What do you guys use / recomend?

Whats the lowest burn speed you would use also?

As far as making a DVD movie or backing up data?

I use Ahead Nero for burning Data DVDs and I always burn on the highest speed possible.

If you are looking to make a DVD Movie:
Ahead Nero
TmpGenc
DVD Shrink
ImgBurn

And list goes on and on.

If I am having trouble copying a DVD, I will put it on the lowest speed possible and that seems to always work.

Everytime I try to burn a DVD with DVD shrink it comes up as a Roxio File.

Hmm, I use DVD Shrink all the time, I have never seen this but I don't have Roxio installed on my PC.

Should just be able to drad and drop the files into DVD Shrink and choose to burn them.

dd = dataset definition. It's a tool for writing raw data.

Of course, you're out of luck if you're using Windows. :)

While it works, I would recommend a tool with a data buffer. I was just kidding about actually using dd to do it, though as I said. It will work.

I use CDBurnerXP Pro 3 (freeware that also handles DVDs) and I always burn at 16x.

I use free burners on Windows also, just have to be careful which ones you install. They all aren't the same and a lot are full of malware / spyware.

True. That's why I always do a scan before opening the zip or .rar file.

I've been using ImgBurn for a few years now really easy to use, no complaints
