watching PITT play 3-4 is a goal the Boys can shoot for in our 2nd yr under this system next year. These guys come from everywhere keeping the opposing offense off rhythm. That last series vs Indy was the way a D steps up and imposes its will. I would love to have the flexibility to move players around the field, drop lineman back into pass coverage, etc. Do we have the players to pull this off? If not, what (or who) do we need?

Zimmer is too new at this, he needs to study some steeler/charger/patriot game film all this off season.

Zimmer has absolutely no imagination in designing blitzes. Plus he prefers to play the bend but don't break defense.

We need a D-Coordinator with some imagination.

Sounds good. But the Steelers overall talent at the LB position is far superior to what the Boys have - and thats assuming Ware continues to blossom and Burnett earns a starting spot. We still need 1-2 more impact players at the LB position.

I'll as far as to say that we are 4 players away from being a completely dominant defense. DT/ILB/FS/OLB. I dont' see any on the team currently.

They also have players like Hampton, Porter, and Farrior.

That's fair. I'm speaking just about the LB corps. The 3-4 is a defense designed to feature LB play, and when you only have one dynamic player with some other very questionable talent at that position, it's hard to become a truly "dynamic" defense. Ware is legit. James is solid yet unspectacular as an ILB. Burnett projects to be a playmaker but he's yet to prove anything so we have to wait and see. The rest need to be replaced IMO if at all possible. I actually like Fowler but only as a situational run stuffer.
