His estimated 40 is somewhere in the 4.7s, for perspective Emmit was 4.55 that puts his as a borderline NFL player!

Although 40 is important, what matters more to me in a running back is vision, balance and toughness. Not saying that E.J. has those things, just that I don't get too caught up in the 40. Emmitt himself was considered too slow (and too small), but he continually proved his doubters wrong.

Right, Emmit ran 4.55 and was considered slow. If he was bigger, he might be able to get away with it but he’s only listed at 213. A couple of articles floating around are saying it’s really going to limit his pro prospects and they were pretty much high on him as as a college prospect!

In Belichick’s interview with Emmitt in the top 100 episode it was clear he knew how special Emmitt was. It was almost like he was enamored with Emmitt. He talked about his pad level which is something most don’t notice and is probably one of the reasons he played as long has he did. Emmitt did the little things better than anyone. Collinsworth said he might be the most underrated player in the history of the NFL. If his son does the little things right he might have a great career too even if he isn’t that fast.
