Emmitt's head was always forward, even in the open field. I don't recall ever seeing him run straight upright like that. It's possible that I'm misremembering, but I don't think so.
The open field is when there are no more defenders directly in-between the ball carrier and the endzone. That's when all ball carriers run upright. The ducking and lowering of pads occur when defenders are close or closing in. So, it depends on the amount of traffic, surrounding the ball carrier. Emmitt was a great in traffic, congested runner. That's what made him special.

Yes, but even when there was nobody between him and the end zone, he ran with his head forward. It's just the way he runs.

The two I saw were estimating 4.71 to 4.77 based on a formula off his 100 meter time which (according to them) is supposed to be fairly accurate. Believe at one point Draft Scout had Dorance Armstrong estimated at 4.65 then he ran a 4.8s at the combine!
Any idea what his 100 meter was?

Edit: 11.63 i was able to find.

Not sure if he ever ran faster than that but, if not, 4.7 is about right.

I would love to see us get him

In a way, it's good he has a "slow" time or he would be a higher pick in the draft. Means Dallas could have a shot at him. My favorite is Bijan Robinson from Texas, but he is gonna have a monster year and his 40 time is also not that great with a best of about 4.48 and up to 4.59 . But that guy will be on top of the RB class. He is NFL ready now. We got Malik Davis already and EJ would not be a bad choice next year either.

I've seen some of the current NFL player's grandfather's play in the NFL.

I saw Derek Stingley Jr's grandfather, Daryl Stingly, play before he was paralyzed in an NFL game for one..

That doesn't look like 4.7 speed to me......looks much faster.
Its based on a formula that breaks down 100 meter, and is supposedly accurate and his was fairly pedestrian!
