With 13 games left any of the 4 teams in the division can be reduced to a spoiler role by the end of the season. The Giants recoverd from an 0-2 start in 2007 to win the SB. With only 3 games played and 13 games left anything is still possible regardless where you stand right now. Although NY and Washington are 0-3 they're only 2 games back with 13 games left.

In a few weeks the Eagles could be starting Foles and the Commanders Cousins.

It's very difficult to think beyond the next week. That premature euphoria has gotten me into so much trouble in the past. I'm now numb to anything that runs beyond the very next game. One week at a time and hopefully we do reduce them to that role down the stretch.

The pitiful performance of the NFC East so far has me thinking about one thing: It's possible that the Eagles and Commanders could already be eliminated from playoff contention by the time Weeks 16 and 17 come around. If so, they would be reduced to playing spoiler role only against Dallas.

(The Cowboys play the Commanders at FedEx in Week 16, and host the Eagles in week 17.)

Of course, every NFL team plays hard against the Cowboys regardless of the situation, especially NFC East rivals. But at least this would make it quite easier than playing against desperate Eagles or Commanders teams who would be in the thick of the playoff hunt and have additional motivation............. who could clinch a playoff berth of their own by defeating the Cowboys in a win-or-go-home situation for both teams (like the Cowboys' 31-14 loss to the Giants in the season finale two seasons ago, or the 28-18 loss to the Commanders in last season's finale.)

We'll be seeing Foles Vick won't last a full season. I don't see Cousins playing unless RG3 gets hurt. They need him on the field continuing to work off the rust. They gave up the farm for him they're not about to bench him.

No team in the NFC East has played more than one division game.

The Commanders last year were 3-6, and their own coach wrote them off. They ended up winning the division.

No one is out of it yet, no matter how poorly the Giants, Commanders and Eagles look.

It seems like everyone has all but accepted a loss against Denver. I think we match up well given our pass rush and Manning not being very mobile.

When was the last time Payton Manning beat the Cowboys? I think that we're 2-1 against him. We match up well against Payton.

Lose a game and we aren't expected to beat the Jaguars; win a game and Peyton Manning starts to look like Christian Ponder.

As long as we stay relatively healthy and Romo is on the field, we win the east. This was the truth of it coming into the season and not much has changed through three weeks. I'm certain we clinch in week 15 or sooner.

The only issue as I see it now beyond the ever present health concern, is how good will we be. Will we be an 8-8 champ and get smoked at home by a stronger wildcard team. Perhaps the Niners. Or will we be a legit division champ at make a run at a bye.

But as far as our division compition goes, none of them get 8 wins.

I never count anybody out, especially considering we only have a 1 game lead on Philly and a 2 game lead on the Skins and Giants.

Now when we have a 2 or 3 game lead, I will start to relax. Right now it is way too early to be talking that the division is in the bag.

You and I can relax now. Neither of us need to stay sharp or focused. We can take anything we want for granted and speculate all we want, we're fans.

I'm not saying I know we're good enough to take any single game for granted. I just believe the eagles and skins defenses stink out loud. And the Giants are in real trouble.

None of them get to 8 wins. Now the only question is what about us?

I think these next 2 weeks will be telling. Back to back losses to San Diego and Denver would have us at 2-3 and probably tied with Philly for the division lead.
