Posted by Mike Florio on August 29, 2008, 1:26 p.m.

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that they have released eight players, trimming their roster from 75 player to 67.

Gone are receiver Bam Childress, cornerback Therrian Fontenot, cornerback Nick Graham, receiver Jamal Jones, running back Ryan Moats, safety Marcus Paschal, offensive lineman Stefan Rodgers, and linebacker Pago Tagofau.
All teams are required to cut their rosters to 53 players by 6:00 p.m. EDT. We’ll be tracking all of the cuts and posting regular updates throughout the day on Saturday.

Quick sign them all.

I am sure someone will mention Moats. He is from Dallas. Quick, sign him and trade Tashard Choice for some starting WR!

:laugh2: The funny thing is, my first thought was "It's too bad we're loaded at RB, this kid is a good return man."

P.S. I wouldn't give up Choice for him.

I am surprised that they cut Ryan Moats. They were extremely high on him at one point....No I don't want to add him to our roster. :)

I liked Moats as well. I believe he was in the same draft as Barber. Imagine if the Eagles had selected Barber instead of Moats and paired him with Westbrook.

They have been down on him for the last several years. He kept getting hurt in preseason and landed on injured reserve.

I really liked Moats coming out of college. Any other year I'd want us to sign him, but I'm very happy with what we have and don't want us to keep 4 RBs, so no thanks.

That's gotta be a big disappointment for Philly having to cut Moats.

They were extremely high on him from the get-go.

Moats is a decent player but was caught in a numbers game in Philly. The team traded for Lorenzo Booker as a 'speed' backup to Westbrook and will probably keep Brokenhalter as the third more 'power' running back. Tony Hunt is probably going to get caught in the same numbers crunch and get released too.

They signed booker. Booker will make their offense better this year by actually doing all the stuff moats was supposed to!

I am so glad that we no longer have to bottom feed off of other team's left overs.

We were very fortunate in that regard. I think Barber is going to be a beast this year.

I believe that the Eags are trying Hunt out at FB. May stick there.

From what i can remember, the Cowboys were supposedly upset that Moats was taken by the eagles before them in that round. So they took Barber as a backup plan.

Imagine that.
