I like this match up for us better than just about any other on the schedule.

1. Kiffen has been hearing about his nightmares versus Chip Kelly since the 1st day they were both in place.
2. Our offense is BETTER than the Eagles offense and we aren't needing a fast break offense that taxes the defense to get there. ---Better in that we score 3 points more per game.
3. Garrett has become a MUCH better game mgmt coach now that he doesn't have to call every play.
4. Dallas has the better QB, WR, TE. This is like the Denver game but in reverse. Te Eagles need to be perfect and we can expect to score every time. We cna manipulate the clock and still score at will IMHO.

Dallas 31-23.
We play bend but don't break to turn a couple drives into FGs while scoring TDs most of the day.
Dominate time of possession and wear their defense down for running the ball late.

Everyone can say what they want about Philly but this is a dangerous matchup for the Cowboys. Philly has an explosive offense that ranks 3rd and they have speed at the skill positions. Their fast pace offense could provide a lot of problems for a Cowboys defense that's had issues with players being out of position. If you have players out of position against their offense it will lead some easy scores.

There is a lot to agree with in this post.

Coin flip game.

The Cowboy defense needs to have success early in this game. If the Eagles establish their tempo early on while they are on offense, it will be a long day.

The Cowboy offense should be able to score on the Eagles, but Joseph Randle in pass protection worries me. The Eagles run a 3-4 now, and do a lot of exotic blitzing. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a lot of empty backfields by the Cowboys.

I'll call it 34-31 Cowboys, but I could easily see the Eagles on the winning end.

The defense will probably suck but our offense cannot play its typical road conservative game or we are toast .

Bring on the Eagles. This team is ready for a shootout. The Denver game proved it.

The cowboys are clearly the better team.

The question is: will the cowboys clearly show this?

I'm just trying to remain hopeful that we don't follow the pattern that we've established for the past decade plus. Coming off of a win to enter into a division rival's home game has been an unpleasant experience for this team for many years now. This team sorely needs to break out of that pattern ASAP. It won't be easy but it's doable.

It's not a great matchup for either team, really. This is the kind of game we should be winning if this team really has improved. We've got a massive advantage at the most important position on the field. If our offense takes care of the football, we can win this by either bending but not breaking defensively, or with a key turnover or two. Even if it were to devolve into a shootout, it's a game we should be able to hang with them in.

I'm concerned about their hurry-up, and our lack of DLs to rotate. And it being a PHI home game. Other than that, I like how we match up with them pretty much across the board.

At some point, this team needs to step up and take control of it's own destiny if it's ever going to under Jason Garrett. Last week, and this one, look like the perfect opportunity for that. I don't think we, as fans, should shy away from that reality. This is a division game against a relatively weak Eagle team with a questionmark at QB. If we can't win this one on the road, we're not heading in the direction we need to be heading. Just my opinion.

Wow that might be the most negative post I have ever seen you make. Not that it is really negative but you are generally a pure sunshine-pumper always thinking the glass is half full or even three quarters full. I agree with everything you said. If we don't win then we are truly heading in the wrong direction. I for one am ready for this team to make the turn and become more than a .500 mediocre team. Hopefully this week is the start of that.

You are selling Foles short. With our struggles on the DL he could have a good day. Winning division games on the road is very difficult. Losing wouldn't be a deal breaker but a big disappointment for sure.

The thing is, I post negative things, but I don't belabor them. You're right that 95% of my posts are arguing with negative posters who are making criticisms that I think are inaccurate or unfair, but I've had major problems with our turnovers, our pass defense, and our red zone scoring in recent years. Generally, though, I like the current team, and if I see that the organization is trying to aggressively address the issues we've got, that's sufficient for me to get behind them to see how it turns out.

I don't think the PHI game is a cake walk. They're an inconsistent team with dangerous skill people on offense. I do think it's a great barometer for where we're at, though. This one looks like a statement game to me. If we win it, on the road and hopefully in a somewhat convincing fashion, we're 3-0 in the NFCE and in a good place. If we lose it, all is not lost, but we're back mired in that 500-level mediocrity we're trying so hard to get out of. This wouldn't be the same thing as a road loss to the Chiefs or the home loss to Denver. This is a game we really want to get if we're going to make a move in the NFC this season.

This game is huge, it's for overall record (both teams now tied at 3-3), as well as three of the four main division tiebreakers - division record, conference record, and heads-up record. If we lose we are on the short end of the three division tiebreakers, we fall under .500 to 3-4 and the Eagles go over .500 at 4-3.

First four division tiebreakers, all tied entering the game, and where both teams stand right now:

  1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). 0-0
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. 3-0
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. 2-3 (won't change)
  4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 3-0

Not sure why anyone thinks the Eagles will roll the Cowboys? Not saying they can't win but Eagles have some issues of their own to overcome.

Are you serious? This is in no way a lock in loss for the boys. This is rediculous the Cowboys offense is just as good or better than the Eagles and same on defense even with the injuries. Remember that last week they beat the Tampa Bay Bucaneers not the Denver Broncos or another high calibre team. Don't jump the gun.

The Eagles' offense is a tough match-up us. Also, their defense, like ours, has massive holes and the numbers bear that out. This might come down to a time of possession game. We can always point to turnovers as being game-changers; but when you have two offenses that can put points up opposing two highly questionable defensive units, it would make sense that the offense that better protects its defense - all other things being equal - will give their team a decisive advantage. Another words, if Dallas can somehow hold the ball for 35 minutes, this should go well.

If the 'boys turnover differential is greater than -1, they win this game.
