Wonder if Parker (Cowboys) will try to bring any of them in to help bridge the learning curve? Who would you take?

Blankenship and maybe Phillips.

Ben VanSumeren is the key to the Cowboys season...

Jaelan Phillips if the price is right. Blankenship is solid. Not spectacular but, solid.

Those two would be of interest to me. But at what cost?

There was an advanced statistics breakdown on the Eagles in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Since most of the talk has been about Nakobe Dean and Reed Blankenship (Phillips will almost certainly be resigned), here is that analysis:

Nakobe Dean:
"Has Dean played his last game with the Eagles? And, to that end, can Jihaad Campbell replace Dean’s production?

Because Dean was pretty productive in 2025 after he worked his way back onto the field after surgery to repair a patellar tendon injury, which he suffered in the wild-card round a year ago.

This is what the Eagles could be asking Campbell to replace should Dean not return: Dean’s catch percentage allowed of just 58.3% on targets ranked third among all NFL linebackers who played at least 200 snaps in coverage, according to Next Gen. And Dean was even better as a blitzer: He led all linebackers with a 40.7% pressure rate on his 27 pass rushes and got home for four sacks."

Reed Blankenship:
"Blankenship has been a leader on the defense for the last few seasons, but he’s now a free agent and it’s fair to wonder if he’ll be back next season.

Blankenship has been solid against the run, but he’s not great in pass coverage when he’s targeted. After a 2024 season in which he ranked fifth-worst among safeties with at least 500 coverage snaps with an 81.3% completion percentage allowed, Blankenship had the eighth-worst passer rating allowed (116.8) in 2025, according to Pro Football Focus.

It’s unclear what Blankenship’s market will look like in free agency, but it’s a position the Eagles could probably stand to upgrade."

If I were the Cowboys (and Parker), I'd want Dean. He's really smart and was the on-field signal caller (and here's the rub) when he was healthy. I'd pass on Blankenship although he's a bit of an upgrade over the terrible Dallas safeties.

I don’t want any of those guys. Phillips for the right price.

Give me Blankenship, Dean, and Uche or Phillips!

Dean would INSTANTLY make our LBing group formidable. Let's not forget that Denver has Alex Singleton as a FA after this season, and he played under Parker too. Imagine if we can get both.

Blankenship: Average speed, tough against the run. Good instincts. Had a bad year in coverage but was played more out of position to cover up for garbage Adoree Jackson.
Phillips: Very good player who has had health issues. Philly wants to keep him, don't know if they can.
Ojulari: Competent depth piece, something we lack at too many positions.
Graham: 37-year old Eagle lifer. Can still play and is a great locker room guy, but said he will retire an Eagle.
Dean: Quick north-south guy that can cover shallow zones. Injuries scare me. He's good, but we need players on the field, not missing 5-6 games a year.
Uche: Competent rotational depth piece, hurt by injuries. Has never come close to the 11.5 sacks he had four years ago.
Okoronkwo: JAG rotational depth piece.
Jackson: One of the worse cover corners I've ever seen in my life in any scheme. He's actually good against the run and a solid tackler, but I prefer corners that don't get toasted 7-8 times a game.
Van Sumeren: LB/FB, was injured the first game of the season against us, didn't play all year.

Phillips and Dean are contributors but come with injury history that can't be ignored. UDFA Blankenship has made a nice career for himself and while he won't impress anyone with pure athletic ability, he's smart and makes plays. Those are the three I would look at.
