Eagles do the right thing

Meh. Nice story, but it sort of cheapens the rings if you give them out to people not specifically associated with the team the year it was won. I'm sure she's a nice lady, but she's no longer with the team.

Maybe a gameday football or a game-worn jersey would have been a better touch.

If anyone have a choice between a game day football, game-worn jersey, or a Superbowl ring, anyone would choose a Superbowl ring

Right. But the choice should only be available to people who actually participated in getting that team to the Superbowl the season it was won. Nice as the lady probably is, she was let go during the Chip Kelly regime. So the football or the jersey are an alternative that's more appropriate under the circumstances.

You make a good point

By giving her a ring, I think the Eagles are saying she'd probably still be with the team if it weren't for Chip Kelly.

If Kelly is the only reason she's not there, and that's what their saying, why not just hire her back after he was let go?

It's not like he can keep them from hiring her back.

Either way it's a very nice gesture on their part to her.

She may have taken another job in the interim. If she has, she may have moved or feel a sense of obligation\loyalty to her new employer. I don't know for sure, but sometimes its not as easy as just hiring someone back.

I think she said it's still hard working a 9-5 and wishes she was back in 'everything football.'

But what if there's someone behind that desk right now, who maybe had that job with Buffalo or Baltimore or Denver for awhile before they came to Philly so they're seasoned and Doug likes em? Or what if when Kelly told her the job was no longer needed, it never really came back? Now we're just talking paying people 5 or 6 digit salary for no reason.

Hence the "I don't know for sure" part of my statement...... What I do know for sure, based on the article, is 1) She kept in touch with the team and 2) The team valued her/her contributions enough to give her a ring.

Maybe so. I'm just saying this notion that she isn't there because of Kelly is just silly to me. If that's the only reason she's no longer there, then it's not a real reason at this point, IMO.

I called him a turd because 1) He is a turd and 2) according to the article:

"Cullen served as an executive assistant for the coaching staff beginning in 1985 under Marion Campbell and worked with seven head coaches over three decades, including Andy Reid during his 14-year run in Philadelphia. Kelly unexpectedly relieved her of her duties following his second year with the team.

"Chip just said my job was no longer needed," Cullen said."
