One of the Cowboys' NFC East rivals is headed for a state of flux.

The Philadelphia Eagles fired Chip Kelly with one game left in his third season, dumping the coach after missing the playoffs in consecutive years.

Kelly was released Tuesday night just before the end of a disappointing season that began with Super Bowl expectations. The Eagles are 6-9 after going 10-6 in each of Kelly's first two seasons. They were eliminated from playoff contention after losing to Washington at home on Saturday night.

Eagles CEO Jeffrey Lurie issued a one-sentence statement to the media, saying he appreciates Kelly'scontributions and wishes him success going forward.

If its true that Murray had a hand in Chip's firing I dont want him basck in our locker room

I'm not rejoicing this news . I was really comfortable with the chipster running the show.
He singlehandly dismantled a talented Eagles team. All we had to do was sit back and watch the destruction.
We hardly knew you chip. The nfl just didn't appreciate your genius

I'm more afraid of filthy now than I was yesterday morning. They have some talent, Demarco is there, and a standard pro set offense will return. I'm not too happy about all of this... but screw Chip.

No way.

Nothing fits.
Bradford, Murray... No one.

I have to say... If I'm Lurie... I never sign off on what chip did ... Dumping those players... Signing Bradford and Murray. Bringing in 20 QBs in training camp. Fail.

Why be afraid?
The Cowboys are a much better team than their record says due to the loss of Romo and Bryant.
Also, the Eagles have salary cap issues with a number of their players (most notably Murray).

The Eagles are not going anywhere any time soon.

I'm sure Murray didn't say anything that other players on the Eagles team didn't say. Chip lost the team. When the players revolt, the owner has no choice but to get rid of the coach.

Jerry clearly believes in Garrett and has faith that they can win with him. Last season solidified Jerry's belief, and this season (considering the circumstances) wasn't enough to completely negate it.

Lurie has tangible and intangible evidence that his football team has gotten progressively worse ever since Chip's program peaked during his 1st season.

That's why Chip is out and Garrett is in (at least for one more season).

How about the high-profile players jettisoned by Kelly?

Waylaid by injuries for portions of the season, DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy haven't played up to their contracts in 2015. Evan Mathis is part of a subpar offensive line in Denver. Trent Cole managed just three sacks for a disappointing Colts squad. Nick Foles was benched for Case Keenum. Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher and Todd Herremans have already been cut by the teams that signed them in March.

Outside of Jeremy Maclin's success on Reid's playoff-bound Chiefs, Kelly hasn't been burned by the players he discarded.

It's the players he overpaid to acquire that did him in.

Lurie said chip was lacked emotional intelligence . lol
I think that means he is detached, aloof , and doesnt bond with players or anyone else.
He is a sociopathic HC !

So I think it was more of lurie not liking chips personality and behavior, more than his coaching or player mgmt.
I think lurie was at this point in time looking for a excuse to fire him.

Firing him before season ends also says it was more than just player performance and his gm grades.

I also think the Murray talk had a impact on lurie.

In Dallas, that's called Jason getting rid of aging, overpriced underachievers and team cancers. Everywhere else, it's getting rid of "talent." Good job pointing out that those players Chip Kelly jettisoned have done very little. And Philly offered Maclin 10 million a year Andy Reid gave him 11 million. Unfortunately for Kelly, the Eagles didn't give him a chance at a multi-year rebuilding project like Garrett did where the payoff takes as much as 4 years before the eventual downfall.

If Jerry took this tact when he was drilling for oil, he would have gone broke.
