I get your hypothetical...i really do.
Our reality though, is that we didn't need to do that because of how we approached our off seasons in recent years. We didn't throw big bucks at a RB that didn't fit our system or an injury prone qb, or an overated CB. We learned from our mistakes and are building our team the right way, through the draft. We make our mistakes, but we are also making brilliant picks.
The Eagles are having to scramble to make unconventional deals to make it work and it isn't sustainable. To their credit, they have done pretty well with the hand they were dealt by the previous regime.
We didn't need to do that.
But the point is you claimed people would be pissed if we traded a 2nd and 3rd round pick for a franchise QB and a high ceiling, young CB.
I think that's BS. I don't think many people would be upset with that if we traded a 2nd and 3rd round pick and got two good to really good players back for those picks.
And by RB that didn't fit our system, injury prone QB and an overrated CB, are you talking about Murray, Bradford and Darby?
Well, despite all the laughing here by some, the Eagles were able to get out from under Murray's contract with little pain. They turned Bradford into a #1 pick that landed them Derek Barnett and Darby is a pretty good CB in this league.
Further, this notion that the only way to win is strictly build through the draft is a myth that isn't really that accurate yet you guys keep claiming it is.
