Eagles acquired MLB DeMeco Ryans from the Texans in exchange for an undisclosed mid-round draft pick.
A Pro Bowl middle linebacker early in his career, Ryans wasn't was as well-suited to the weak-side interior in Wade Phillips 3-4 scheme. After a slow start in returning from Achilles surgery, Ryans came on stronger late in the season. He fills a major need in Philadelphia, where Andy Reid's squad has long been in need of a tackling machine in the middle. Jamar Chaney (neck surgery) will move back outside. Considering Ryans $5.9 million salary, the Texans' haul of a mid-round pick was as much as could reasonably be expected.

I have a friend who's a Texans fan that was down quite a bit on Ryans last year. May have been the defensive change or achilles surgery, but Ryan's is not a top linebacker.

Good pick up by the Eagles, but I'm surprised they're not just going to fill the need in the draft.

Dam, thats a real good pickup for the Birds. Demarco doesnt fit in Houston's 34 and was making way too much money to be a roatation backer.


Mid round pick is surprising, I am guessing a 4th rounder. I would have expected Hoston to get more than that but I guess they shopped him and that was the best offer.

At first glance, it looks like they got a stud, but a closer look suggest that his stats have been declining for a while now and that he isn't the player he once was.
