Graham and 2 Starting OL.

Not bad for a a team dead last in cap space.

Meanwhile Stephen keeps stocking his piggy bank

The extensions are why we have cap space. Convert current contracts into signing bonuses and spread it out. It's like restructuring but without the bad cap at the end of the deal because we gave it more years to spread out.

No, Wentz was a first rounder so his contract is 1 year longer than Dak. Hes not a free agent until 2021.

They also had to dump Timmy Jernigan because they couldn't afford to keep him.

It's not all roses.

Especially with their winning QB gone. Wentz will go down yet once again and Foles won't be there anymore to carry him.

We did that same trick for years. See Tony Romo as an example. You can only spread out signing bonus for so long (5 years to be exact). If done too much it will leave you with bad cap at the end. Tell yourself its all roses, but if those players do not see a majority of the extension it won't end that way.

They’re relatively small extensions, we’re not doing what you did. Both are only through 2022 and Vaitai sounds like his is just about done too, probably small.

Is an extension for Jay Ajayi on the horizon?

Jernigan only played 45 snaps last year. Before the injury he was good, but at the cost we had him signed for it wasn’t worth the risk. Especially with this DL draft class. Rather let him go than Graham.

Yep. It started way before Tony, too. They used Aikman's contract as a ATM and it started this team's journey into cap hell.

I agree that keeping Graham was the better move, but having to cut Jernigan shows that the cap, issues are very real.

His run-stuffing was a big part of that championship run.

I realize stats don't tell the whole story but 29 tackles 2.5 sacks can be replaced for less than the $16 million he was due this season

They certainly don't tell the whole story when it comes to lane-clogging run-stuffers.

And likely can't bring Tate back and are also thinking of maybe trying to trade Agholor.

So there is some pain here that goes with bringing back Graham (which I think was a decent move for them - he's pretty good. People will look at the sack numbers and mistakenly think he's not very good).

Eagles will likely go heavy on the DL in the draft. They need a starting DT now with Jernigan and likely Ngata, gone.

One thing that is funny. Eagles fans would laugh at us when we would restructure deals to create cap space in past years. They called it bad cap management, while their team always had oodles of cap space under Banner. Now all of a sudden, robbing Peter to pay Paul and restructuring contracts is good business under Roseman.

Funny how that works.
