Eagles: Most Classless Fans?

Two words: Texas Rangers.

True. The difference is the Rangers rarely have expectations, whereas the Phillies have had real expectations for the last 7-8 years. The average person in Philadelphia cares a whole lot more about the Phillies than the average person in DFW does about the Rangers. That's the difference.

It definitely sucks to be a Rangers fan, but they've done some good things over the last year. They're improving.

I like how you are so easy to throw stones around here. Do you know how many times I have read " I hope McNabb gets hurt again" on this board the last few days? Unbelievable!!

*shrugs* there's many posters on the EMB saying how they pray for Romo, TO, etc to get hurt, and the mods keep allowing it.

Again? We don't say again. Oops.........Freudian slippage?

Saying and doing are two different things. You fans laugh and boo when an athlete from another team is lying on the ground motionless. I'd bet money, at texas stadium you wouldn't get that. You'd get applause as the guy was leaving as gesture of good will.

Ther is no other stadium in all of the NFof L where a jailhouse is built into the facility. Now that's unbelieveable. It also is concrete evidence that you folks can't even get along with yourselves. That alone is telling me that you are indeed the worst species in the human race when it comes to being civil.

Another mis-guided cowboys fan...What a surprise...
1) a select FEW did cheer at Irvin's injury and made the other 75,000 fans look bad. Even Madden agreed it was a few. NO ONE knew it was a career ending injury!! One of the A*** who cheered, was punched in the face by an Eagles fan for doing it!!!...
2) There is NO JAIL IN THE LINC.....That was the vet. It wasn't "built in" it was a courtroom added because of the fights in the 700 level. It was there for 2 seasons.

Again, making assumptions on an entire fan base off of a few morons. So, no fans at TS ever act the fool??...wow! Impressive!! This isn't syncronized swimming. Its football!! Go play with your barbie, ok?

WRONG!

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/news/1999/10/11/philly_fans_ap/

Many fans in the crowd of 66,669 cheered when they realized Irvin was hurt, and again when paramedics wheeled a stretcher onto the field.

"I couldn't believe they cheered when Michael Irvin got hurt," said Donovan McNabb, the team's No. 1 pick who was nearly booed off the stage by Eagles fans attending the draft. "You don't know what to expect from them."

"This, in terms of bad taste, was as bad as it gets," said Mayor Edward Rendell, an avid sports fan.

For me, there's no doubt..It's Philly...The Irvin case on it's own is indicative but there are countless other examples of just how low class the fans/city are...Not even truly a debate

This is like asking:

Water: Is it wet?

Sunrise tomorrow: In the east?

Marion Barber: Does he run hard?

I guess you believe eveything in the press too right? My Father was at the game. MOST people DID NOT cheer!!!!! But thats not a good enough story line is it?

Most of our fan base are good people. The press loves to look for any bad behavior there, and BLOW IT WAY OUT of proportion. Santa was drunk and wearing a Giants shirt....What would they do about that in Dallas? Take him to church??

The courtroom at the vet was mostly a place for rowdy drunks and most often from the nosebleed section.

Eagles fans are loud, rowdy and obnoxious at times, but so are fans of other teams when they have had too much to drink.

I live in philly, i have watched many a game at a sports bar with my cowboys jersey and never had a problem. i have bought a round of drinks for eagles fans and they have done it for me while watching football games and cheering for the cowboys. At the end of the day, if you have respect for one another as football fans there is no problem. The problem occurs when people make it personal, and try to rub someone's nose in something - like for instance....reminding an eagles fan that his team has never won a superbowl just because the eagles are playing well or beating the cowboys at that particular time....why make an immature statement like that on their turf unless you are looking for trouble ?

Again, i have never had a problem watching football with eagles fans and have lived in philly or philly suburbs all my life and been a die hard cowboys fan.

You can't just throw out stuff like that as if it was fact. The valuation between the teams is only like $50M. That number is based off incoming from the fans. The numbers range from $1.3B (Yankees) to $256M (Marlins) Both the Phillies and Rangers are in the $400 range. Even though the Rangers aren't *known* like some of the bigger teams, they are pretty big earners.

In the list of MLB team valuations 7th ($498M Braves) to 17th ($407M Tigers) are all in the $400M range.

Those teams include:
  • Braves
  • Giants
  • Rangers
  • Phillies
  • Cardinals
  • Mariners
  • Astros
  • Nationals
  • White Sox
  • Indians
  • Tigers
Most people wouldn't think the Rangers fanbase produced income near or above those teams, but they do!

The Rangers also have big expectations. They've had some of the best hitting teams in the majors. They've out slugged the Yankees even with their $200M payroll some years! You've got Ryan Howard, the Rangers have had endless amounts of sluggers that have been in the race for triple crowns. A-Rod, Josh Hamilton, Juan Gonzalez, and that doesn't take into account the other great players like Michael Young, Ian Kinsler, Rafael Palmeiro, Ivan Rodriguez, and Julio Franco in their prime.

The Rangers have had the talent to win, they've just been mis-managed by the front office. They are finally starting to change that.

Just because ESPN doesn't talk about them much, don't think they don't have the same type following many of the other teams do.

not anything close to what you see on a Philadelphia board. I have been on this board about a year and never rememember anybody wishing a player get hurt. I can direct you to a Philly-Eagle board right now that have many comments of wishing other players would die on the field, get mamed, take an "aids bath" (a philadelphia favorite) etc. But as I said, those are not just reserved for opposing players. The Phillies should send a security detail around with Pat Burrell, Kyle Kendrick, Ryan Howard, and a few others because of the Philly fans abuse. And if the EAgles lose Monday, you can bet the house that the forums will be full of the same vile for Andy Reid and Donovan. They eat their own.....

The day Cowboy fans much less any other fans cheer a player from an opposing team laying motionless on the turf after having a spinal injury through a hit, then it can be considered apples to apples...Otherwise, Philly is in a class by itself, a classless one

Apparently because your Dad wasn't cheering, no one else was much less making it a majority of the stadium...Nothing like one single person sitting in a stadium having a perspective on who is cheering/booing as opposed to hearing it live on television where cameras capture the collective stadium noise...I watched that game live and it was clear there was cheering and it became a story in it of itself but to somehow spin it as otherwise is ignorant...Next you'll tell us that some people during an earthquake never feel anything so there couldn't have been an earthquake in the first place

I seriously contemplated a fierce rebuttal. I then realized I could sum it up succinctly with but a simple noun.

LIAR! Plain and simple.................

Wow! That must be a VERY LOUD select few.

The fans sure seemed to get louder and louder as Mike lay motionless on the turf.

Talented people..those select few.

Speaking as a Cowboy fan born as raised in Philly. Its odd to read a post about Philly fans being the most classless fan base, and then reading what some of you wrote. Kinda of makes me see why they call all Cowboy fans stuck up or obnoxious. Look, i enjoy the pain of an Eagles fans just as much as you, but you will never understand the passion and love they have for the teams around the city. I started getting smack email and textes as soon as they beat the rams. But i love that about Eagle fans. It should all be in good fun. Most if not all Philly fans are reasonable, they just hate the BOYS.

Really what Im trying to say is, read the post before you show just how classless YOU are.

All that said, i hope we beat the hell out of the Eagles on Monday night.
