Eagles new defensive coordinator

Strange. Should have just promoted Washburn or kept Jauron. This guy was an OL coach for the last 13 years

You just cant make this stuff up...absolutely hilarious

The Commanders will save them from last place next yr

Reid has a secret unemployment wish ? WTH is he thinking ? This is one of the biggest head-scratchers that I have ever heard of.

it seems really odd -- but this is a team that tends to make stuff work. They took an ST coach, made him their DB coach and that seemed to work out well for the guy.

I'm sure Reid wouldn't have moved him unless he was confident he could do it.

You see position coaches switch sides of the ball some, but I cant remember a single time where a career position coach on one side of the ball was suddenly named a coordinator on the other side of the ball.

I think this is bound to produce laughable results.

As a Dallas fan and career Eagles hater, I'm glad he did

Reid is no dummy. I just read an article where Leslie Frazier, Ron Rivera, and Steve Spagnuola all called it a great decision. Frazier talked about how Castillo worked with the defensive staff every week. Everyone is falling over themselves to say how smart and hard working he is.

Mcdermott >>>> Castillo

I ain't saying it isn't strange -- but I do give Reid credit for being a lot smarter than most folks on this board.

It is nice that you can see in the future.

Now give me thoses (%^*$%^$^^ lottery numbers

crazy move, but it might work out for them. Castillo used to coach defense , but was never a dc. i have to say I am shocked. Maybe Andy Reid is working on his exit plan...

How the hell does an offensive line coach become a defensive coordinator?

We must be missing something in this guys coaching history.

Part of me actually admires this, harkening back to a day when coaches actually coached football and could coach football very well, instead of specializing in one area.

good coaches can coach anything. Parcells and Jimmy always talked about this. Its about teaching and finding out how guys learn.

Norv turner coached safeties at usc for crying out loud.

I would love to laugh and point at the eagles, but somehow someway this will be a positive for them. HIring mudd absolutely is.

The move seems more than a little fishy though. I mean, this guy has never been a defensive coach beyond high school. Also, if they were going to hire from within the whole time.....what took them so long? At this point, it seemed they were merely waiting until Monday to talk to some of the hot commodities playing in the super bowl. And some of those guys even (somewhat boldly) expressed interest in philly during media day,

This is a total head scratcher.
