I believe the Eagles are team to beat in NFC East.

However, it's odd for Joe Banner to say this. He could be saying this to put more pressure on McNabb to expedite his exodus from Philly.

In my opinion, the Cowboys and Eagles compare thusly:

Quarterback
Edge: Eagles

Running Back
Edge: Cowboys

Wide Receiver
Edge: Eagles

Tight End
Edge: Cowboys

Offensive Line
Edge: Eagles

Defensive Front Seven

Edge: Cowboys

Secondary
Edge: Eagles

Special Teams
Edge: Cowboys

Coaching
Edge: Eagles

The catalytic agents in all this are Tony Romo and Roy Williams. If they can improve from last season, they can tip the balance clearly in favor of the Cowboys.

So you think McNabb is better than Romo?

It's close, but the last five quarters of last season are still emblazoned onto my mind.

I would say, maybe, best in the east.
Beyond that, the Eagles arent all that.

And any Cowboy fan who doesn't give them credit after last year's humiliating 44-whatever infliction upon the Cowboys, is living in fantasyland.

With any other coach, the Cowboys are a lock in the NFC. With Wade, the 'Pokes should be happy to even make the playoffs.

Romo was good in the 4th Q VS Balt. The defense lost it

I agree.

I should revise the quarterback comparison to a grade of 'even.'

There's no doubt about it, they are stacked this season. If they stay healthy all year they are one of my favorites to win it all.

While the Eagles are my pick for a wild card for certain, I don't think they are necessarily better than the Cowboys.

1. Jason Peters, 11 allowed sacks last season? Flozell, with rag-arm lead-foot Johnson back there and nursing a nasty oozing half-rotten hand did far and away better than that.

2. RB, no comparison. Westbrook is Westbrook, but he's coming of a slew of career low stats for the last season. He'll be what, 30 or 31 when the season starts? Not like he hasn't always had injuries every single season either. Dallas leads this by a mile

3. QB? Romo for sure. If it were 2004, McNabb, but otherwise no I'll take the kid with the greater accuracy, decent enough mobility, and higher completion percentage in 2009. Romo edges this one.

4. Offensive line as a whole is a push I think.

5. Defensive front 7? Dallas.

6. Safety, gotta go with Philly for now.

7. CB, again gotta go with Philly for now, but both groups have a load of talent.

8. Coaching? Brian Stewarts gone and Jim Johnson is as well. Wade is a defensive guru so right now I'll go with a push on this.

9. TE, Dallas no question. Celek might be a bit better than Martellus was last season, but we'll see how that all pans out this coming year.

10. WR, Philly for now. DeSean, despite catching an amazing 2 TD's last season could do great things. Their draft looks good too. If Miles can stay healthy I'll think this could end up ever so slightly in Dallas's favor and that is also coupled with Garrett's use of the RB's and how our overall plan of offensive attack develops this year.

The only way to really tell is on the field comparing these two teams.

I'm more afraid of the Giants in the NFC East than I am the Eagles at this point.

Interesting.....

I'm the opposite.

I'll even throw in the Skins. Not that I think they're better, they've come up and bitten us pretty hard the past couple of years.

I'm not as worried about the Giants. I don't see our players being intimidated by them. For some reason, vs the Eagles, our guys seem to lose their edge.

I guess for me it is the loss of Jim Johnson and Brian Dawkins and both Tackles that has me believing they could struggle a bit. Plus McNabb has been injured 2 of the last 3 years.

Eli and company are steady. He has to get used to new WRs, but their Defense is getting back some critical pieces.

You don't think the new tackles are upgrades over the Eagles' previous starters?

Shawn Andrews has been a great OG. I am not convinced he will be a great OT. Jason Peters allowed a bunch of sacks last year for Buffalo. It won't shock me if they are good. It won't even shock me if they are great, because they are good football players. I need convincing first though.

Johnson is a HUGE blow as is Dawkins. Both were thorns in our side for a long time.

I think it will take time for the OTs to gel with one another, but I think it'll happen. McNabb can play with no fingers on his right hand, lose 14 games, but still play tough against us.

Call me pessimistic. They just have our number. Ever since Reid took over, they just know how to beat us. I would love to see the day when we conquer them....not just beat them....or sweep them....Destroy them twice.

I think it will take a couple of beat downs on our part to really swing this in the other direction.

This century, no doubt, they are our Daddy. I do not deny that.

Nothing would please me more than to just destroy the crud out of that team....on their own field.

I never felt we got payback for their disgusting display after Irvin went down.

Almost did when Roy scored and Bradie cleaned McNabb's clock.
