Eagles re-sign LB Zack Baun

Eagles will likely lose Sweat and Williams. They will demand top dollar… And the Eagles feel they can get relative production, at a lower value, from other players that line up next to Jalen Carter.
They will lose both, probably in addition to Kenneth Gainwell, but that’s been the plan (same for ditching Slay) for quite some time.

Sweat was inconsistent but shined in the SB playing against a Guard. No problem replacing him. Williams played well though, and earned himself some cash this year.

Look for them to take a player on the first that will be plug and play. I have no doubt their first selection will have Cowboys fans saying, “Of course, look who falls right in their lap.”

Good. I know he had a good year but I am not sold on him doing so again. Ends the Garrett talk which would have made them a huge favorite to repeat
Even if Baun does not have a good year this year and in the future, at least Baun helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl and that is all that matters

Guy was unreal. He really was like prime Fred Warner.
This is the kind of player your reward, not the also ran guy who is never going to sniff a SB game, let along win one! Prescott's contract is an insanely horrendous one that is going to be a weight around this organization's neck for YEARS to come! Please don't make the same mistake with Parson's contract!

Before then. The Eagles have $86.76 million in voidable years in 2027. And consider this. They have their top players on contracts that pay them option bonuses. Given their 2027 and 2029 problems they may start cutting players, or trading them, to avoid paying those option bonuses that create the 2029 problem. I think the Eagles are going to go all in to win another SB the next 2 years then we could see another re-tooling effort. Their MO is to trade players for draft capital and get some high draft picks. I think we could begin to see that as early as 2026.

By resigning Barkley and Baun, I think they added to their future CAP problem. I think the length of those contracts though is intended to push some of the problem into 2028 when they don't have much money parked in voidable years. But 2029 is the big problem for them They have $176.9 million in voidable years hitting in 2029. That's a huge number even if the CAP increases by 8.6% every year, as it did this year. If it does, the CAP will be $389 million in 2029 and the Eagles will have only $212 million to work with. And that's assuming they do not re-sign anyone else pushing more money into 2029.
They don’t even know the trouble ahead…It’s treacherous!
