Eagles release Babin

He is 32 and would cost a fortune to bring in this dead weight. But then again, these are the type of guys Jerry goes after. Because he wants instant gratification.

I'll pass.

Granted it has been a number of years, but if I recall, wasn't he a poor OLB in a 3-4 his first few seasons in Houston?

Yes. And doesn't Philly play him as 4-3 DE?

Not a stunner if you've followed their situation closely this year. Babin has been nearly invisible rushing the passer and is a real liability defending the run.

As many four man fronts as the Cowboys run, especially on passing downs, I could see it. I'm not one who advocates the signing of every available free agents, but we're desperate. And maybe Babin needs a chance of scenery.

He was good...last year. This year he has been a liability IMO.

He's been awful and has been one of the popular whipping boys for fans on sports radio in Philly. Babin did one thing very well to keep him on the field considering he can't play the run. He hasn't gotten to the QB at all this year. So he's basically been worthless.

There are also rumblings that he's a bad locker room guy.

Wow. We better beat this wounded duck of a team on sunday night.

Yeah, this was the vibe I was getting from watching things too.

Seemed like he was doing his own thing out there and couldn't be bothered about anything other than getting 'his sacks'.

And if they're serious about sending a message, I'd dump that grossly overpaid cornerback who doesn't care too.

Don't be surprised if Nnamdi is playing somewhere else next year too. I'm no cap expert but if it's at all doable, they may go that route.

stunner. RT @adbrandt Eagles release Jason Babin. Will owe remaining balance of $5.6M salary, $1.64M, if he is not claimed on waivers.

I'd bring him in for a look.
Yes, bring in a 4-3 DE with no sacks for a look! woo hoo!

I've read that they could actually save about $1 million on his deal if they deactivated him this year.

Something about his guarantees being tied to the percentage of snaps he played this year.

I would think that cutting him would put a real damper on that.

And honestly, there's not a player on the team that epitomizes the underachieving and lackadaisical attitude more than him.
