Eagles trade edge rusher Bryce Huff to 49ers

So the Eagles basically bought a 3rd-5th round pick for Huff’s signing bonus. And he’s reworking his deal for cap alleviations, I wonder how much.

We still have the Haason Reddick 3rd round pick coming to us in the 2026 draft; if Huff’s pick is there too then that would be our 13th 2026 draft pick
Yeah, that's right, NFC, shudder at our strength. You will kneel before us in 2025-2026!

I can't believe the Eagles got a mid round pick for this guy.

I'm reading that he was literally unplayable last year. Healthy scratch in their SuperBowl win

Big huge contract, and they foist him off on SF and get a good puck back too?

Unbelievable
Pretty nice move by the Eagles.
Horrible signing for them, but they are decisive and got out of it quickly. They eat 9 mil of his salary this year, but moving him opens 15 mil in space this season. Combining that with the June 1 savings fro Slay and Bradberry will get them about 45 mil in cap space this season, so they still have options to make moves this year if they feel they need to.
Their player development is exceptional. Hearing that Hunt likely has Bryce's position locked up already (with Nolan Smith opposite, and Ojulari and Uche for depth.
Probably a good bet for the Niners too. He was great under Saleh before, and now retiurns to that system for a 2nd chance at a reasonable number.

Every team has misses. They have very few this past few years, but this was a miss. But they throw their pride in garbage, identify it quickly (after 1 year) as a mistake, eliminate it and move forward.

Jerruh would have doubled down. He wouldn't have eaten any money...he woulda just ran them out there, guaranteed him a starting spot, lived with a poor performer, and then verbally pumped him up and explained away his lack of production as a byproduct of something else...

Huff was a stiff. He'll never get a fifth-round pick. From what I hear this will save the Eagles 15 million against the cap. They'll split 18 million over the next 2 years so that's around 9 million this year in dead money, and 9 million next year. The Eagle should give San Francisco a fifth-round pick for just taking him and paying the remaining 7 or 8 million. It's a good trade for the Eagles, but pay him $8 million is not worth it for San Francisco unless he performs like he did his last year in New York. Their mistake was not keeping Hassan Reddick
Keep in Mind his HC in New York is now his DC in SF

Don't think it will be a 3rd, read it's supposed to be a day 3 pick

How was not keeping Reddick a mistake? It was a great move. Reddick has done nothing since he left the Eagles except cause problems, and he wanted a huge payday. They got a 3rd rounder coming for Reddick and now a "mid rounder" (likely a 4th or 5th) for Huff. They already have 2 recent draft picks on the outside, Smith and Hunt who are their starters outside on cost controlled rookie deals. Huff wasn't going to play much less start for them.
Letting Reddick walk, developing their draft picks, moving on from a mistake (Huff), and securing additional picks for the future is one of the main reasons the rest of the league is looking up at them.

Reddick is not attending voluntary OTAs in Tampa. After his awkward season last year you’d think he’d at least want to be present to indicate a determination to return to form. But, nah.

I don’t think they’re losing too much sleep over losing a malcontent and how his absence jeopardized their 2024 season

Multiple NFL teams can't believe they got a 4th from GM Jethro.

Not really…they proved it wasn’t a mistake by winning the SB without his services. Is he a better player than Huff? Without question he is. But he’s one player and one that didn’t fit the culture
