You made me look.
Jones bought the Boys back in 1989 for 140 million dollars. With a rate of inflation, that's 361 million dollars today.
Laurie bought the birds back in 1994 for for 185 million dollars. With a rate of inflation, that's 477 million today.
Given that BOTH teams are well worth over 5 billion dollars now and given the Boys are the most valuable team in the world per a what a sports franchise is worth, it's pretty apparent (not that it's never mentioned here) exactly what the priorities are of both Jones and Laurie are when it comes to winning and making money.
In some aspects, I envy the Eagles fans (not themselves mind you LOL) in the fact that they seem to have a owner whose main goal is to make the playoffs and win the big one.
David Tepper is the 3rd richest owner in the NFL (Jones in at #7 out of all the NFL owners). Laurie looks to be #20 on the list. One could argue Laurie is a very bad businessman at only having a net worth of 4.5 billion dollars, but once you have a couple of billion of dollars laying around do you really have to worry about money?
Look at the Chiefs... I was surprised at how low on the scale the chiefs are worth vs other teams in the entire league (under 50%). What I didn't realize is that the Hunt family who owns the chiefs are in the top five of the richest NFL owners (even above Jerry Jones).
So, when I hear people state that spending money in the NFL on it's players and contracts that a bill will come due in the future, my response is so fricken what when you're a NFL owner LOL
