Eagles | Westbrook in a boot; will not play next preseason game
Tue, 8 Aug 2006 16:04:30 -0700

Scott Bomboy, of NBC10.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (foot) was spotted in a protective boot on his injured left foot Tuesday, Aug. 8. The Eagles confirmed Westbrook has a foot injury and will miss at least the Cleveland Browns preseason game. PhiladelphiaEagles.com reported that Westbrook has a "foot sprain" and it is not a Lis Franc injury. Eagles' head coach Andy Reid said Westbrook would definitely not play Thursday night, Aug. 10, against the Browns.

Wow, it usually takes Westbrook a few regular season games until his brittleness takes him down. This is not a good sign for him.

Talk about an injury prone RB.... he gets worse every year.

2002: 15 games
2003: 15 games
2004: 13 games
2005: 12 games
2006: ??

All reports that came out of Eagles TC indicate that Westbrook's sprained foot is not serious and the prgnosis is good. He's doubtful for the Cleveland game.

But thank goodness it is definitely not a LeCharles Bentley type scenario. You'll see Westbrook/Moats on the field more than you probably want to this year.

that was just unbelievable wasn't it?
No one on this board wanted us to sign Bentley more than me and now he's done for the year...crazy

Totally insane ...

And you hate to say ...whew, I'm sure glad we didn't acquire that Guy ...however you never know. Had he gone to the Eagles or to Dallas, the injury, may or may Not have occurred. Who knows - and at this point who ...?

Personally, I am a big believer in destiny.

If he was going to get hurt, he was going to get hurt . . . . .

Anyway, I'm glad we didn't sign him to a massive contract looking back on the situation.

I respect that philosophy also. All I'm saying is that if he had gone to a different team, he may/may not still have been hurt, but it may have not been a season-ending injury ...yet, it may have been career ending. You never know.

I think he's faking the injury and just doesn't want to play until September....

I bet he brings in his own trainers and a hyperbaric chamber and will be
running like a deer in no time...

meanwhile Coach Reid has lost control of his team

What's you're opinion of Julius Jones?

Point taken.

But the big difference is if JJ goes down Barber takes his place and we don't lose much ... if anything.

If Westbrook goes down for any considerable period of time the Eagles are Screwed with a capital s.

Jones hasn't done it yet while Westbrook has but for Filthy sake he better stay healthy or McNabb will be on his back alot. Barber is better than any backup in our division. The dropoff won't be as significant

Westbrook's durability is another reason I blame Andy Reid more than TO for the Eagles problems last year. So is letting Cory Simon go without an adequate replacement and Jerome McDougals lack of development and signing a wore out Jevon Kearse. Why do you think Andy Reid seems to get a pass from the media about his personnel problems?

Maybe because he's taken his team to 4 out of the last 5 NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl. But that's just a guess.
