The Eagles will be dead soon. You will see. I have been down that path before. I know the road signs; I know the curves and the pot holes. I remember it well, back in 1995 when the Eagles were improving, but Dallas was just to good to notice, in route to a 12-4 record and 3rd superbowl in 4 years. We were dominant then, but we lost to the Eagles late in the year 17-20. All the while, we ignored Eagles cries that they were getting better and would overtake us soon. No biggie...we had the playoffs sewn up and really didn't need to win....starting to sound familiar, Eagles fan?

The following year, we were still a good team, but something was missing. Things were going wrong that we couldn't explain. Teams that we used to dominate were suddenly closer, and there were the Eagles, boasting a 31-21 win over Dallas in their home town. But this is still our division, right? No question about it, we own the NFC East.... Right? Besides...10-6 isn't that bad....

Enter 1997...Suddenly, the glitter and swagger is gone...We are at rock bottom. But Why? What happened? How did we get this bad? 6-10? Are you serious? but we were just in the superbowl right? We still have the big 3, Smith, Aikman, and Irvin...this has to have been a fluke year. Yeah...Right.

1998
I knew last year was a fluke...we are 10-6 again, "ready to get back in the superbowl mix," is what we said, but we all new the wheels were falling off slowly but surely. But little did we know this would be the last Hoorah...

You know the rest..8-8, 5-11, 5-11, 5-11...Each year revisiting our annual trouncing by the Eagles. But that road trip is finished. We handed the Eagles the keys to the car this year. So buckle up, Eagles fan...its gonna be a bumpy ride....

blah blah blah. Eagles have a fairly young team and have been in the same position they're in now 4 of the last 5 years. There is no window. They win a lot of games and other teams can't.

Its not like Philly doesn't have lots of cap space and plenty of draft picks. We hurt then today, but look to Washingtomn as the way not to spend cap dollars and draft picks.

The difference between the Eagles today and the Cowboys yesterday is that our "Big Three" were getting old and worn at about the same time. Not to mention that free agency killed us. In fact, our whole team was getting old as well. We rode the same ponies into the ground if they stayed around long enough.

When McNabb starts to slow down is when the wheels in Philly will start to loosen. T.O. will not be there long at all and that will quicken the slowing down process of McNabb. When McNabb had no receivers, he tried to do it all by himself. Now that he has T.O. he has kept his scrambling to a minimum. If T.O. leaves after this year, the Eagles will have to find a replacement for him fast because with all of his injuries, McNabb will find it very hard to duplicate the feats he was known for a few years ago.

If the Eagles are smart, they will take a lesson from our 90's teams failures and start looking for the next QB, RB and WR which is something that we failed to address before the wheels fell off.

I think the biggest difficulty for Philly is that this division is now significantly stronger...and not just on paper, but in the win column. They're already 0-1 in the division. After years of going 5-1 or 6-0 in the NFC East, this may be the sort of year they go 3-3. At the least, it's possible.

Well they were in the last super bowl. Just because they got spanked today doesn't mean they won't be the team to beat in January. But they have been exposed the last 2 weeks IMHO.
