Earl Thomas is exactly what we need

Could you imagine that Secondary?

Thomas, Chido, and Lewis?

He would essentially make them better, especially with our front 7 looking pretty good

Things on defense would be looking pretty good. I'd still want a productive 1tech still.

Let's trade away our draft picks for old expensive players.. the life blood of the team. Terrible idea. Just wait until he is a free agent if you are desperate to overpay for an aging DB.

Maybe if we lost in the NFC championship game mostly due to poor safety play I could get on board. As it stands we can't even make the playoffs.

Earl and a trade up back into the late 2nd or early 3rd for Chark, Miller, or Washington.

Assuming we traded away our 3rd and a late 4th, we could still get maybe Hernandez in the 2nd at #50 and a 1-tech in the 4th.

We'd be all set on the OL and pretty much the entire defense
Hernandez would be fantastic.
W/O Dez/Witten we got to give Dak an
elite OL again. And we gotta ride Zeke.
There are some nice 1-techs like Nnadi, Senat, possibly Shepherd and Poona Ford later on.
I'm afraid of the high bust rate for recievers,
so while I see the obvious need, I think
I'd rather fix the trenches and build a top
defense.

I think trading for ET is the smart move here. Don't know that it will take pick 50 or not but if so, than that is what we should do. No matter what, we will head into the season with a question mark at TE and WR, no matter who we should draft at 50. No one drafted has proven anything. So I would shore of the D as much as possible. Make it a dominate unit and take our chances with drafting a WR and or TE in the 4th or later.

We’re a pretty good team. We can easily make the playoffs if we had a top defense.

Our coaching is awful but we are definitely a playoff caliber team.

Unless he can catch passes in the red zone then I can’t say he is just what we need.

We just lost the only 2 guys who scored points.

Allen Hurns caught 2 TDS all of last season. Beasley caught 4 and T Will got 0.

We have 6 tds from this WR\TE crew and I’m supposed to care about overpaying a 30year old safety..

Funny you mention that. Wasn’t it just 2 years ago we lost a shot at the NFCCG to Aaron Rodgers due in large part to bad safety play at the end of the game?

With the emergence of Tank and Irving on the line and development of the young secondary, Earl Thomas would put the defense over the top.

What if we give up pick 50 and a late 4th but seattle gives us their 3rd and ET?

Agreed. You don't need premium-pick skill players to win SBs, look at NE, SEA, etc. Then you look at teams like ATL, CIN in past years, etc that their offenses look great on paper because of the flashy skill players -- but lose because of the trenches and defense.

Heck, SEA didn't have any premium WRs or TEs at all in 2013 and they dominated because of Wilson, Lynch and their elite defense... and their OL wasn't half as good as ours. Dak, Zeke and an elite OL and defense can win a SB even with just okay WRs and TEs

We are pretty good. Would prefer to just keep adding youth. Treating second round picks like they are expendable has been a real issue for this team IMHO. If you wanna trade a 4th have at it.

With that logic, Why not let Zack Martin walk and collect a 3rd round comp pick? Better yet, Why don't we trade him for a couple 1st round picks before his contract is up? Teams are better off without old expensive players.

Thomas would help our youngsters develop faster back there beyond his natural talent he will bring to the new Doomsday!

By bad safety play do you mean when the safety (heath) picked off rogers? Or do you mean that when the defensive line couldn't sack rogers and he held the ball long enough to get the ball to a wr in pretty good coverage?

Paying Zack Marting a non-playmaker G 14-16 million is sheer lunacy! I hope the FO realizes this and develops his replacement asap!
