At one point the best 3 safeties in football were Ed Reed, Troy Bighair and Bob the midget Sanders. Color me unconcerned about height at Safety.

I agree. One way they overcome it is by being in the right spot at the right time and being in good position to make plays on the ball

Maybe i'm missing something here.

I keep hearing about Thomas' size being an issue to playing FS in the NFL but Ed Reed is listed at 5' 11 and 200 lbs and Polamalu is 5'10 and 207 lbs.

Why is it an issue for Thomas when arguably the two best free safeties in the NFL are about the same size as he is?

Because it's Mel Kiper, and it's the draft. Nobody just looks at the most telling stat: "can he play?"

They poke and prod and talk about how his 40-time in shorts and track shoes at 4.32 is so much slower than some other guy at 4.343.
