Earl Thomas

We are a players last stop on the money train. If a player is dying to get a SB after making lots of money, they usually try to go to the Patriots.

I have gotten the impression our young players talented have bounced when given he chance.

It's working out for Church right now. He's headed to the playoffs, and Carr could be as well......

I don't know the exact drama but I read recently that "the legion of boom" are at odds w/each other and the infighting is enough that Seattle will trade or release someone. Not sure where I read that but it was before they had a more direct path to the playoffs, so.

there's been infighting for a while now. most recently earl and bobby wagner got into it over earl telling reporters that wagner shouldn't have played injured against the rams, and should have pulled himself sooner because the backups could have done just as well. wagner then lashed out and alluded to jealousy on twitter. just way too much going on over there for them to not be willing to listen i think. and you see how accomodating they were with marshawn when they still owned his rights.

I know it’s been discussed but not enough.

This is the biggest gift / opportunity that has landed in the cowboys lap in as long as I can remember. Priority number one the offseason needs to be aggressively pushing the issue to acquire him. Not looking for a qb, not a wr, not a war daddy, GO GET EARL THOMAS. anything outside of a first round pick and you pull the trigger. Less than that? Cherry on top. He’s a generational player at a position of need, still in his prime on a team that is about to be forced to blow it up, thst not only WANTS to play for us, but enough to make it known in the most unthinkable of ways.

Even at a shell of his former self (which I don’t think is the case) he’d damn near single handedly fortify this promising young secondary.

Not getting him will be a failure, not trying to will be unforgivable.
Seattle would have to release him.

Absolutely get Thomas but you also need a culture change in the team

Otherwise Thomas will come here and become an over paid has been

Seattle would have to release him.

that would be optimal (and not out of the realm of possibility) but outside of that I'm advocating calling and trying to trade for him.

He only has 1 year on his contract so you can't give up much in a trade.

It would be great to have him, but the defense is not the biggest problem going forward. The Cowboys are completely devoid of receiving talent.

potentially given all that's going on. but the gift is his active campaigning to come play for us, and seattles current dysfunction opening the window to trade for him.

Despite the dysfunction, I don't see them willing to trade him for anything less than a kings ransom. I'd be glad to be wrong, but as it stands now, there isn't much point in going back and forth with this, unless new information becomes available.

he's got one year left, just openly solicited another team after a win, is fighting with probably their most important defender, and the the massive personalities in that lockerroom seem to have hit a tipping point. i don't see the kings ransom being necessary with one year left. but *shrug* better call and find out rather than speculate

Dallas will not go after a 10mil a year safety. They will just pick up random guys to fill holes like they've done for years now.

You know ET is still under contract right? You think Seattle is going to give him for cheap? TBH I'd be surprised if they do not franchise him after next year.

How old is he? He's had some issues recently and his play has sharply declined. I'm not sure a huge investment in another aging secondary player is the direction we should go.

Then again, I'm pretty much done with this team given Jerry's comments about Garrett.

yes, which is why i mentioned that we should pull the trigger on anything less than a first. it was in regards to a trade. and i don't know what they'd give him up for, but i'd say with what's going on currently, this would be the lowest asking price.

he broke his leg last year. came back and is right back in the probowl

Please tell me you don't measure players ability by Pro Bowls...

Yes. Exclusively.

How do you measure sharp decline? He’s looked every bit himself after a massive injury. Still a ferocious hitter and volume tackler. Still defends passes well, still gets his hands on the ball, still a force against the run.

He’s also only 28 a full 4 years younger than Eric Weddle who’s still playing at a high level after we screwed that up.

I doubt Seattle gives him up and further doubt Dallas would pay a huge asking price because they do not value the position enough.

Not sure how much you saw him this year, but no, he hasn't looked like ventage ET.

Let me further clarify, it would largely depend on the cost, but I don't think he's taking a big pay cut to come here and I don't think we are giving him the massive deal he'd get from other places.

And Weddle has been pretty good, but not so good rue missing out on him. The issue has been how awful Jones has been.
