Earl Thomas

I know it’s been discussed but not enough.

Actually, it has. He has one year left on his contract. And if the Seahawks decide to eat his dead cap, I would be surprised.

I am all for getting rid of Byron Jones, but I don't think Earl Thomas would solve a whole bunch of problems.

About the only thing it would do is be the kind of splashy signing Jones would need to deflect attention from the fact he has a loser head coach and a possible QB problem.

The Seahawks have 36 players under contract for next season. They are going to be players in free agency and as already mentioned...Earl Thomas saves them $8.5M on the cap if released.

The Seahawks are going to be going into “rebuild mode” and usually high paid veterans are shown the door.

Thomas is a smart guy, he knows that he could be on the chopping block.
He might feel that pressure, but if you look at their roster, there are others that are likely going to go first.

I think he is being a little melodramatic. Sherman did the same thing this offseason. They know that the team is not going to shell out money forever for aged players. They are due to get younger.

I bet Sherman is gone, Jimmy Graham won't be re-signed. Avril might be gone if they don't think he can make it back from his neck issues. That is a good chunk of savings right there.

nope. it hasn't that's why it's being discussed further. seahwaks don't need to eat anything in a trade which is what I'm suggesting. And earl wouldn't need to solve problems (although he's the kind of dynamic player that could) just needs to continue the buildup of the secondary and be a vet/leader for the young guys on top of what he already brings to the table as a player.

Oh yes. Keep throwing money and resources at the secondary. That will really pay off. One day. Honest.

that's a really simplistic view, and could be used as a protest to ANY potential move they make. But yes, the secondary already looks on it's way to paying off and adding a very very good vet to the mix is a solid move.
