It's more true for Mazi because he's never going to do anything other than get stoned early in his career. His entire job is to do that.

You use a first on him hoping that he can develop into a passrusher, but that was never going to happen early.
He'll show flashes of what he will be in his rookie season but no one should count on any rookies to make or break a team's chances. This is what makes Micah so special. He was great right from teh start and will get better. Tyler will too but his best seasons are in front of him. I have high expectations for Mazi next year and the year after.

He's either able to penetrate and rush the passer or not.

When I say early I mean...right now. We'll know by, like, Thanksgiving whether he can penetrate or not. DTs don't develop a passrush skillset, because it's mostly just first step.

Pardon my skepticism. This fan group has been weirdly super-charged against Josh Ball practically from the moment they learned he'd been involved in a domestic violence action when he was 18 at Florida State. Or, maybe that's not so weird.
Nah, To get an OT that is a league average starter or couple game capable reserve has big value. In the words of Bill Parcels. year 3 you are what you are. In his case it appears at best below average.

Beginning of camp, not gonna think much of Tyler getting the best of Mazi. Tyler has a year of NFL weight room and coaching under his belt. As look at as Mazi isnt getting blown off the ball and generally looks like he belongs it will be fine.

Edoga not getting looks at guard is really odd to me.
May be more about letting Ball either sink or swim. Edoga has played both, so it's not like he's got a steep learning curve. And it's possible that we'll be looking at him as the top swing player when the season starts. Probably be him as the sixth man and Farniok as the seventh because Farniok is the backup center.

All we need Mazi to do is demand a double team, clog up the middle, and stuff the run…any pass rush would be super bonus

Listened to the most recent episode of The Break.

Good news is that Steele looks great. Good news is that Farniok looks good in his reps at right guard.

Bad news is that the rest look bad lined up on the right side.
