I agree Nors...those who think it will be a cake walk they should think again ... Gregg Williams the Defensive Coordinator is a Coach with good players and knows Drew Bledsoe very well.

Your analysis consists of it being close or a blow out, you're really sticking your neck out on this one.;)

i have a lot of respect for the Commanders defense. i think it will be a semi low scoring game and it will come down to turnovers and big plays..

If it comes down to turnovers, I like the Cowboys' chances... from preseason right through the opening game of the regular season, the Skins have coughed the ball up with some frequency (13 times in 4 preseason games plus one regular season game), and the Boys have protected the ball pretty well...

As for big plays, Brunell at quarterback makes it considerably less likely that the Skins will see many of those... for the last 2 years plus, he's basically been a dumpoff artist... and that means that Parcells will likely keep Roy Williams up close to the line of scrimmage, making it some harder for Clinton Portis to find any running room...

Of course, Dan Jenkins once said of football "the d*mn thing ain't round, it'll bounce funny on you"... if the Cowboys suddenly and inexplicably start coughin' the ball up, and they're on the wrong end of enough funny bounces, well, in the NFL anything can happen on any given Sunday (Monday)...

Yes and no... I think you can count on the Boys giving a spirited effort on account of the induction of the Triplets into the Ring Of Honor, and I certainly believe the Cowboys are the better team...

As others have noted, if we can get up on them early, it might get ugly for the Skins... but if they can figure out how to hang close, and take the crowd out of the game, it might make for a LOOOOONG night...

All in all, though, I like our chances...

I just hope the Commander equiptment manager remembers to bring the "big" pads for LIL Dannys highchair. Otherwise it's going to be a long sore flight back to DC. :skins:

while i hate the foreskins, expecting 40 points or even 30 points is ridiculous. bledsoe had a great game against a mediocre at best san diego pass d. the Commanders have a better pass d and about the same run d. that said, i dont expect them to score more than 10 points. i envision a 17-10 victory.

I sure hope our Boys don't take this game lightly. If they do, they'll lose.

This game ought to scare everyone simply becaue of what's at stake. Could ANY of you stand the thought of the Skins standing on top of the NFC East? I couldn't. It would be one thing if they have the better team, but I don't think they do.

We ought to win this game. I think we find out as much from games we should win as they games we weren't supposed to.

I was very strong on Dallas last week. Actually giddy. I had several threads documenting SD being a big lie and overated team last year. I was somewhat suprised they kept it as close as they did.

This game could go two ways. Skins can get to Drew and quiet th e crowd early. Maybe eek out another low scoring affair. Their D can cause us problems if we don't adapt.

If we get up early we can see a can of wupazz. 40-7 win for the Boys. This is a dangerous game and Gibbs / Tuna is a good matchup.

I agree with you Nors - we're either gonna win..........or lose.

That's what I thought I read. Then a few more "Commander's D could keep it tight, BUT we could blow'em out" assertations.

I like that, so put me down for a "it's possible that Washington could keep it tight or possibly even win, but I won't be surprised if Dallas not only wins, but blows them out."

That should about cover it.

We should win this game simply because on paper, we have a much better team. That however, is only an indicator, & not worth the paper it's written on. Our history against them is just that - history. The Skins D is dangerous, and we should be concerned about them. A couple of turnovers going the wrong way & it's a new ball game.

The keys to this game are the same as they were against SD. Protect Bledsoe & sucess in the passing game. If we can't do that, JJ's going to have another so-so outing.

I still think we win, but in no way is it a given.

If we come out with a spirited effort and good energy, I like our chances.

This is the first time we'll face this much improved Skins defense with all our weapons. We were limited at WR in the 2nd game and had no running back in the 1st game last year. This year we have everyone healthy with a better QB. Not saying that will equate to a a lot of points on Monday but it will allow us to move the ball. From there, we just need to punch it in or convert the FGs.

On defense we'll load up on Portis and contain him. We also need to watch out for Santana Moss on a reverse. I think we'll show a lot of man coverage until the Skins do enough to take us out of it - if at all. I don't think Brunnell can make the "stick" throws against tight coverage but we'll see.

So much for a prediction. :laugh2:

I think it's going to be close early in the 1st Qtr, but after all the hoopla settels down the Cowboys will blow the Skins out.

I think Larry Allen and Flozell Adams are going to destroy the right side the Commanders defensive line. Philip Damiels and Joe Salave'a are out talent and seriously lacking in speed or power.

Flozell makes these average DEs look pathetic and Salave'a is going to find out why Larry Allen is HOF bound.

I think we are going to run right at Marcus Washington their smartest and most discipline LB.

Both QBs are going to take a pounding. I like Bledsoe 6'-5" 238lb frame as compare to Brunnels 6'-1" 217lb built in this game. Though Brunnel has some shiftness, QBs that run around play intothe hands on 3-4 defenses that have Dlinemen and LBs that dropped more effectively into coverage. Our Safeties have shown more range and Roy and Dats ability to take down LT inthe open field pretty much gurrantess that Brunnel won't be making any plays with his legs.

I think there running game will be nullfied because they be trying to catch-up and Cooley IMHO is the only WR threat that can cause some mismatch problems.

This is a tough game for the simple fact it is the Commanders.......our most intense rival......I still love our 89 team for it's one beautiful victory to save my season. Thank you Steve Walsh!

We must be focused this week and take the deadskins seriously as a team!

You are correct.

But I ACTUALLY said it would either be a close game or we jump on them.

As always I expect it to be a very close game through out. I'll take a blow out but never expect them.

The key will be stopping Portis and forcing the Skins into 3rd and longs. If this happens, expect a few turnovers which will shorten the field for the offense. Also, with the games Crayton and Key had last week look for the Skins to focus on them along with Witten thus freeing up Glenn. I think Glenn will have a BIG game. I also think JJ gets involved in the passing game this week as well.

Nors, to not respect San Diego is not wise-- they were and are a legit contender. Fortunately we aren't slouches ourselves :) .

It's Washington's defense that's the big lie here and they will be exposed on Monday Night. We already know their offense is limited-- we have to contain Clinton Portis and keep an eye on Chris Cooley and we will surely and steadily win this game.

I don't think the skins D is dominate but I do think they are a good unit and they did hold Jones to 57 yards for a 2.6 average last season. Dallas did win but in a close one 13 to 10

I am leanign towards a blow out in this one. The Skins have had the bubble burst with the benching of Ramsey. Also for some reason I think their D is very suspect.I mean the stopped the bears with a rookie QB who was a 2nd day pick come on. If they had stopped manning I would give them some credit. But their passing D is very suspect. If we go three and four wide, it iwll give them fits all day. This week will be a good indication of how good they are, and I think they took a huge step back this year.
