Early Early Early Observations

Great to see the Boys playing football again. Some very early observations:
-The offensive line play was not very good. That's to be expected with two rookies playing in their first game and Gurode out with injury. This group will improve every time we see them play.
-I'm excited about Harris.
-This will be a rare time in recent Cowboys history where we execute the screen pass well. It's a great weapon, but takes a lot of practice in order to run it well. Early indicators are looking good there. This will suit the athleticism of the front 7 nicely.
-Sensy looked slow back there. It's early and he's still learning this new system. Not time to panic, although he looked a lot like he did last season.
-McCann looked lost in the end zone on that pass to the corner. Looked like pass interference.
-AOA looked terrible in the return game.
-I'm excited about Harris.
-Good to get a win, but the best part for me is that this coaching staff will show what makes them great (IMO) by watching film and working through the many mistakes that they'll see. As JG said, he believes the Cowboys have the types of players that will learn from and correct their mistakes as the preseason goes forward. That's the thing I'm excited to see the most.

Dominant? What were you watching?

We got no push on short yardage as usual. Felix's one long run was slipping through a very small crack and breaking tackles. None of our QBs had a clean pocket.

Arkin needs strength; all he lacks. Costa was OK and that is all. Smith will be a monster once he gets some experience. Young looked average at best against second stringers. Parnell- hard to tell since he was going up against third stringers.

Not worried about the OL, this team is built to attack the outside on first down or third and short. When defenses spread out to stop that, then you hit the inside with traps and such. Reminds me of the Calvin Hill era, great to watch.

one huge weakness we have had for years is no ability to punch it in or get the short yards on the ground. I see no signs that has changed.
