I used to pay attention to the sound coming through speakers until someone pointed out what might be the most obvious thing ever regarding stadium noise on the TV.

The broadcast can tone up or down the volume as much as they want. So, if you have a half full stadium you just pump the volume up a little to make the game seem like it's more entertaining than it really is.
