Both were necessities, Mazi was easy.
2nd pick on Schoon has some peeps holding their bellies grumbling, but that pick had more to do with what MM required to run his basic scheme, and that basic need is filled now.
Doesnt matter if anyone thinks that was reach, if the player fits a fundamental need that kick starts a heavy edge dominant running game, than who cares what the naysayers are commenting on this TE.
MM didnt get his choice in the 1st round, but he got a few key components in this draft.
IF Tolbert catches a clue, this offense has some crazy upside coming.
Agreed. And whats a reach? One round too early? When you are drafting at the bottom on the round you often cant wait. I applaud them taking their guy if they wanted him.

And you nailed it. A great blocking TE that can catch and stretch the field was EXACTLY what MM needs for his offense. To set the edge in the run game and run his two TE sets. Helps short yardage, GL, 3rd down, run game, and passing game. I think we see lots of 2 TE sets this year and we can run and pass well out of both of them.

Now we have Schoon and Fergy that can block well and pass catch. I really dont think most fans understand how much the TE's help in the run game. Most see Kelce and think thats only what a TE does.

We ran the ball inconsistently and we stopped the run inconsistently. We have helped both those areas.

Schoon - "He's better than we thought" is what they're going to say early. #86 has speed and is going to surprise as a receiver. Luke's high level work on crossing routes fit a WCO, and I look for him to add a vertical threat down the seam from the TE1 position. CeeDee just got a tag team partner to stress opposing Safties.

Deuce - The narrow holes Tony Pollard makes work are clear runways for #42. Duece's shake, speed, vision, acceleration, IQ, routes and hands make him a weapon ppl are going to rave about. Check out Deuce in the slot he is dangerous. Dallas got a Playmaker in the 6th round, unbelievable.

Honorable Mention

Mazi - Smith is going to surprise with his versatility and upfield burst coming out of a 3 point stance, DQ is going to take #58 off the leash he had on at Michigan. So yeah, I see Smith playing some 3T to shut it down in the middle paired with Big Hank, and allow Mazi to attack the outside shoulder of the OG...good luck!

I've got my eye on Fant and Fehoko
Everyone is entitled to choose their own lifestyle....not that there's anything wrong with that. J/K....

Mazi is an easy pick here so i'll leave him out......i would say Schoonmaker and the Deuce man. Both are in positions of need and open for new blood. As long as no injuries, i expect both to get some PT in their respective rotations. Dark horse is Overshown who may surpass Cox on the depth chart.

I think they are going to get Schoonmaker into the starting lineup right away. Mazi will start but DTs take time to develop.

I hate to say if because it sounds crazy to me but if there is a second rookie to make an early impact it would have to be Vaughn.
