This article discusses the depth chart for the offense, but only 2 players deep.
Maybe this gives a little insight on what happens in the draft, since many may think they will go for need / BPA combo.

Speaking of the draft, the Star magazine for their draft guide is now available. Anyone have a subscription?
I may need to go to Barnes & Nobles to take a look at it.

I will add this as to the OL situation this article addressed.
Progress report on Tyler Smith.

Very good ability too flip between OT & OG, but needs to work on eliminating the penalties. Perhaps that changing between positions were part of that reason for the 11 penalties.
He had a history of them in college. Playing guard next to Tyron will help. If we can keep Tyron and Steele healthy, we can have a great OL. That's a big if, though.

I cringe when I see Tyron Smith listed as a starter. I just have no confidence in his health. You cannot count on him. An outstanding player when healthy, a waste of a roster spot if not.

Until Steele is 100% and cleared to play. Tyron is the guy for now.
And he is one of the best 5 on the roster as of now. A long way to go to see how it plays out.

Saying “Tyron is the guy” is a risk we should not be taking IMO. I have always loved Ty Smith- he’s been a truly great player with incredible ability. But the first “ability” a player MUST exhibit is availability. He’s has missed over 30 games the last 3 seasons and thinking he’s still a reliable piece to plug in is magical thinking.

I did not mean to imply he will be fine. I was saying ... for now ....
No doubt this needs to be addressed in the draft. OT & OG. No matter where they intend to play Tyler. That may depend on the draft as to which position is the BPA taken as well, until Steele is ready to return. I believe he should be the RT when he does.

I think if they draft an OL, say in the 1st round and plan to start him, then leave Tyron as the swing tackle, once Steele returns.

You don;t have to be an astrophysicist to know NASA messed up a couple times.

In other words...spotting a problem or concern doesn't necessarily indicate the solution has also been determined.

Just sayin. He might have your answer, I don;t know.

Man, Tyron needs to get his butt to South America to get some stem cell therapy or something, heal up over the off season so he’s a little more durable during the season. If he says healthy and Tyler moves inside, we could have a big time power run game.

Our backup interior oline is 2 guys with 1 point of draft value and 2 NFL starts between them.

I am grateful for a thread that isn't about who are we cutting next year or how do we afford X in year 2024.
Too many boogeymen and too little time.

Using this and ONLY this:
I think you see RB, WR and iOL as major areas of worry on offense.
RB: Pollard is solid RB1 if healthy but you need a strong RB2 who can get heavy carries and not sure Jones is even here for that.
WR: Love the starters but unless Tolbert elevates, I don't see a true NFL caliber guy on the 2nd unit.
iOL: Not much depth there at all across the 3 positions.

If I were mock drafting I'd be looking for good values at these positions across the first 5 rounds.

the good stuff:
I realllllly like this plan at OT.
You name Tyron a starter but in name only.
Keep Tyler at LT where you have found a late R1 gem and let him develop.
Steele will be RT1 as soon as Tyron gets hurt which is more than likely in camp.
But you didn't insult a HOF'er either. Just get in Steele's ear about how much you love him before you lose him next year.

QB is better than I could have hoped after Rush performed well last year.
Getting him back at that rate was a steal.

Pollard is not a number one back. You will soon all see this. Especially after his ACL.

I agree. But you mean broken leg, but I guess there was some ligament damage they won't talk about as well.

I seen something similar to this I stole, but changed it a little....Replacing Zeke with Pollard as the "bell cow" is like replacing Emmitt with Hambrick...

Pollard is far more explosive than Hambone ever was, but I'm concerned with RB as it stands. If Zeke isn't properly replaced, people will see how important he was to this offense.

A rookie who was drafted and trained in the offseason to play guard at an NFL level, but played the most difficult position on the OL instead had 11 penalties? No way.

Sarcasm not directed at you. We have a special talent, and should be hoping we can do it again, because anyone who is banking on Tyron standing up for a full season at this juncture has to be related to Jerry.

Pollard was the best back 2 years in a row. If you're counting on your RB to be a blocking guru, you're dodging the issue at hand. OL needs to be better, and play calling needs to have more balance.

So who is the #1 RB on the Cowboys now? Not bad for a change of pace scat back that cant handle more than a few carries eh?
