Like it. All five players fit a need.

Would love the influx of talent (McKinney, Orchard, Sheard, and Fairly) to the Front 7.

There's an awful lot of "random" mocks showing up with Nate Orchard in them.
He looks really interesting--but recall that last November , six mos before the draft, so did Michael Sam to many out there....and Michael Sam is the player that I've seen Orchard compared to the most.

Could some of you Nate Orchard fans steer me in the right direction?

Much like Sam the popularity of Orchard is based off of stats and limited game film available for us mockers to watch. Much more will likely come out from players once the bowl games are over & the combine results come out. But physically Orchard is cut out for the part unlike like Sam (who was short & slow) Orchard is 6'4" 255lbs & is a former reciever so you know he has speed. I'm going to guess he runs a high 4.6 low 4.7 which isnt bad, not great but if his speed were great he likely would not be available in the 2nd round.

I love McKinney he's alot like Ro McClain as far as size and athleticism & I think he'd make a great Sam Linebacker for us next year..... Just thinking about the possibility of Lee Ro & Benardrick as our LB Core gives me chills.

He is taller and looks more the part in general.
Sam
6'2"
261lb
4.75-4.8 forty

Orchard
6' 3 1/2"
255 lb
4.65 - 4.75

But Sam's stock really took a nose dive. Draftscout projected him in the 5th, and obviously he didn't even get taken until the end.
Draftscout has Orchard, at this early stage, pegged as a late 1st or 2nd rounder.

do you think we need a linebacker if we resign romac?
gives lee-romac-hitchens
with the probability they bring back durant aswell?

I don't like Durant or Hitch at the Sam Linebacker position, Durant played poorly at it during his first year here & I dont believe Hitchens has played it since becoming a cowboy (although people seem to think other wise, I could be wrong but I havent seen him play it when Im watching) Lee may be able to play it leaving Hitch & Durant at the WLB but S Jones stated in an interview previously that if they could resign Ro they had intended on placing Lee on the weakside not the strongside.

hitch ines up as sam alot from what i see.And last off season alot of people were on about lee moving to will to help protect him from the injuries.
personally d say linebacker was our strongest ositonal group on defence. So although with either carter or durant (i dont think both go)leaving in fa i still thinks its stong but some mid-late round selection could always be used for depth and devevelopement-say someone like jake ryan in round 4/5

I like McKinney, he makes us better but I'm holding out hope we land this man:

.... in 2016. I realize we have no idea where he will end up being drafted and where we will be drafting, but drafting a 1st round LB in 2015 pretty much guarantees we wouldn't be getting Scooby a year later.

I think someone mentioned him and then everybody is just jumping on the "bandwagon" with that name to be honest. It happens every year with certain players. Come draft time, a lot of people will be calling him their pet cat.

Love McKinney. I think he'll be in high demand with 3-4 teams and eventually move up into the top half of RD1. Unless we're looking at him as a DE, I don't think he'll get much consideration.

I'm just not a fan of Yeldon. He looks slow and top heavy to me.

Orchard is my fav player by far but he will be a 1st round pick come draft time.
dont see the need in drafting a LB in the 1st if McClain is back and Lee. Especially if we resign Durant

Yeah I mentioned him months ago just like I did last year with Donald. Last year people called me stupid for saying Donald was a top 20 pick, well I proved them wrong. I'm saying it this year with Orchard.

this is totally wrong. Sam and Orchard is nothing alike
Sam was slow and only had 11 sacks his last year. Orchard is quick, fast and has a variety of pass rush moves. Orchard is more like Demarcus Lawrence than Sam ever will be. Shane Ray is a much closer player to Sam than Orchard, and it doesnt have anything to do with both being from Mizzu.

2. DE Nate Orchard, Utah

Premium matchups are a huge part of scouting as the season winds down, and last week saw Utah vs. Stanford—and left tackle Andrus Peat (Stanford) against Nate Orchard (Utah). The game, and the boost in draft stock, went to Orchard.

The 6'4", 255-pound senior edge-rusher can play with his hand in the dirt or standing up, and he has the length and first-step quickness to be a nuisance for tackles in space. Orchard did struggle a little in the run game, but when Stanford came out throwing he stepped up his game and was a huge difference-maker against a tackle I've seen projected as a top-15 pick.

4. OT Andrus Peat, Stanford

Andrus Peat is one of the most physically gifted offensive tackles in college football, and someday he may be a top-10 pick. But against Utah defensive end Nate Orchard, he was abused.

Peat is a long, aggressive athlete, and Orchard used that against him by setting him up with outside speed and using his own length to keep Peat from getting his hands on him. Learning the timing of punching and sliding his feet will take time for Peat, who, again, has huge potential but looks more and more like a player whose technique isn't ready for the NFL as it stands today.
