Don't usually do this stuff, but I'm super bored at work today :laugh2:

My shot at the 53...

QB - Romo, Orton
HB - Murray, Randle, Dunbar
FB - Vickers (Think they hold on to him since they don't really have a blocking TE)
TE - Witten, Hanna, Escobar
WR - Dez, Miles, Harris, Williams, Beasely, Coale
T - Smith, Free, Parnell
G - Leary, Bernie, Livings, Kowalski
C - Frederick

23

DE - Ware, Spencer, Wilbur, Crawford, Hargrove
DT - Rat, Hatcher, Liss, Bass, Callaway
MLB - Lee, McSurdy
OLB - Carter, Sims, Durant, Magee, Holloman (I'm thinking Carter goes to the middle if Lee goes down)
CB - Claiborne, Carr, Scandrick, Webb, Moore
S - Johnson, Church, Wilcox, Allen, Hamilton

27

K - Bailey
P - Jones
LS - Ladouceur

3

I know it's premature, but get over it.

Too early, but I'm bored with you.

No Vickers because (1) they don't intend to use fullbacks this season, and (2) he just had back surgery.

Tanner and Kendial Lawrence could battle for a fourth running back position, especially if Lawrence can return kicks.

I think they carry Rosario or Cochart as a fourth tight end.

They will only keep five receivers, which means Beasley or Coale is out.

They LOVE Phil Costa, so he's got to be in there somewhere. Probably instead of the always-injured Kowalski.

Albright is a shoo-in, so bye-bye McCurdy, Magee, or Holloman.

Hamilton is iffy. They could carry a fifth tight end (the base offense is the 12 after all).

Also, and there is no way for you to even do this obviously, but I fully expect Dallas to use some of the $10 million in salary cap space on some salary cap casualities from other teams upcoming. Hopefull at DT or OL.

In what way do they "love costa?" I've heard coaches like him, but so what? They've already basically given the starting C spot to Frederick, and he doesn't have any flexibility to play guard, like Bernie. I think Kowalski would probably be the first OL to go if they sign a new one, but if they didn't get rid of Free, I don't think signing a new OL is likely to be honest.

I just don't see Albright as a shoo-in at all, but if he gets in, I think McSurdy is gone.

I don't think there is a very high chance that McSurdy makes this roster. I think we carry 4 tight ends, and that may come at Vicker's expense. Plus Vickers wasn't all that and a bag of chips last year anyway.

I think Albright makes the roster long before McSurdy, but McSurdy will be gone either way. That's just my meaningless view on the matter.

Costa can play guard in a pinch. That's what he played at Maryland.

I'm telling you, Albright is a HUGE part of the plan here as a backup with significant playing time, or even a starter. It's between him and Durant to start.

I'm pretty sure that barring injury issues that Costa easily makes the roster this year.

I'd bet money we'll keep at least 4 TEs.
possible, wouldn't surprise me. But the signing of Rosario tells me they aren't too pleased with Cochart, which would leave us without a blocker if Cochart and Vickers are cut. That doesn't make sense to me.

Who do you then take out? McSurdy? A WR?

Albright's versatility makes him even more valuable than he would be otherwise. I think he sticks too ..... and many seem to be high on his upside and potential.

Rosario may bump Cochart off the roster, but other factors may be involved here.

Costa is awful at guard. Is it really worth carrying around a guy who will only see the field if our C gets hurt, when we have a guy like Bernie who can backup both? Especially if we are talking about carrying 4 TEs.

What is that based on with Albright?

I don't think both Coale and Beasley make this roster.

We go with 4 TE but not 6 WR? Or does Green or Armstrong make it?

What versatility? People are so vague talking about Albright :laugh2:

I can't imagine he's going to be playing the middle in a cover 2 unless both Lee and Carter go down. He isn't going to be playing with his hand on the ground. What versatility? The ability to cover punts AND kickoffs?

I wouldn't write out Cook from the OL since he can play multiple positions. Arkin, Kowlaski are probably gone. If Leary comes on strong and they want Costa as a backup OG/C-- then Bernie or Livings could get the axe.

No way we carry 4TEs AND 6 WRs... my guess is we go with 5 WR.

Also-- no way we go 10 strong along the DL. Not with Liss, Hatch, and Crawford all able to play DE or DT. Hargrove probably gets cut since he's a vet.

Safety is another interesting position. With Moore able to play CB or S-- I think he makes the roster. If Wilcox, Church, and Johnson all look good-- Allen may get the axe.

McSurdy is done. He wasn't even a fit at ILber for a 3-4. He was a ST "RKG" pick all the way-- and he's coming off injury. Albright looks good as a backup IMO...

They rarely keep only 8 OL. It is normally 10 and sometimes 9. I would not be surprised to see Costa starting somewhere. There is no proof that he can't play OG. He played a few snaps at OG his rookie year. Frederick played more snaps in college at OG than at OC. The fact that all of his snaps in OTAs were at Center is not a guarantee that they wouldn't move him to OG. If they do move him, it would probably be during the 2nd week of training camp.

I would give Vickers a less than 50% chance of making the team. They don't even have 1 backup FB on the 90 man roster despite the fact that Vickers is out due to surgery.

On defense, McSurdy appears to be the least likely of the 27 listed to make the roster. They probably wouldn't have any problem retaining him on the Practice Squad. I think Alex Albright makes the team. He and Danny McCray have been the top 2 special teams players and McCray is doubtful to make the team this year.

If they keep 8 LBs, which is highly unlikely, I believe that Taylor Reed will challenge for the last spot. According to reports, he was very impressive in OTAs and the rookie mini-camp.

Other players that I think will have a shot to make the team:

Good reports from OTAs:
DE Cameron Sheffield
DT Ikponmwosa Igbinosun
LB Cameron Lawrence
RB Kendial Lawrence
TE Colin Cochart
WR Jared Green
T Edawn Coughman
LB Taylor Reed

Have done something good in the past:

DT Nick Hayden
RB Phillip Tanner
WR Anthony Armstrong
WR Tim Benford (good in 2012 training camp)

Developmental types with good college game footage and/or measureables:
T Darrion Weems
WR Eric Rogers
DE Monte Taylor

Need:
TE Andre Smith (blocking TE)
