If you've had any service outages or issues with blocked channels, call in to get a friendly customer service rep and try to negotiate it out. If you don't get anywhere, hangup and call back in until you find somebody willing to work with you. That works a lot better when you're changing services rather than shutting down, since they're compensated for keeping you an active customer a lot of times.
I do that with pretty much any unhelpful customer rep. As soon as I get a brick wall, I say 'thanks' and hangup and call back until I get somebody willing to actually help. It's frustrating, but it gets you farther than trying to budge somebody who's dug in. Good luck.
