5.7 Earthquake just moved through Anchorage.

What an odd feeling. I have lived in Alaska for almost 30 years now and I will never get used to the feeling of an earthquake.

I really hate the feeling of them from the 10th floor of my 20 story building as its rocking back and forth.

It is the creepiest feeling in the world. You don't know if you should just try and make it out of the building or just sit tight and ride it out.

This one made me want to leave.

Very strange feeling.

I hear you. I had the same thing about a year ago, but quite as severe.

We had a 5.2 or so and we were in a meeting on the third floor. It just kept shaking and rumbling. By the time we finally decided to head out, it had stopped.

I haven't had the misfortune of experiencing one since I was 9. I remember being freaked out, thinking about the earthquakes scene in Superman, and thinking the earth was going to open up and swallow me at any time. No bueno.

I was Stationed at NAS Lemoore during the quake at Big Bear that droped the highways in LA back in the early 90s, even though I was over 300 miles from the center I was being tossed around in my bed like a rag doll, our pool at the apts I lived in lost around 2 feet of water that was sloshed out. and you're right you never get used to them but you learn what they feel like. I've had the fortune to expereince 4 in my life, 2 in Memphis Tn, 1 in Cali, and 1 in Richmond Va. only two were storng, one that was centered in Ark around blythville the other of course in Cali...

Wow!! I have never experienced one like the one you went through in Big Bear. That would scare the poo right out of me. These small ones give me the heebiejeebies. I remember seeing what LA went through. That was crazy.

I have lived here all my life, minus the time I was in the Army, and have never felt one.

Just wait until the New Madrid fault erupts again like it did in 1812. (estimated around magnitude 8.0) I'm willing to bet you'll feel it! :p:
