The easiest person to blame is always the head coach. Don’t like Garrett? Okay. Don’t like Moore’s play-calling in critical situations? Okay. I’m not excusing anyone for last night’s loss, though I do clearly see offensive improvement under Moore. And he’s going to make mistakes going from QB coach to coordinator in his first year.

But to me the problem with this year’s team is the same problem we’ve had for a long time....the defense.
Other teams, good and bad, seem to find ways to stop our run. I get that. Even a bad team can stop you from running if they want to through enough at it and dare you to pass. But our defense can never stop the run game when other teams get going.

Look at the games we’ve lost this year. Most of them have killed our defense. When you score 24 or more points per game, you should usually win. Show me a team with a good run game, and they’ve run it on us.

Despite the last drive last night, our offense did more than enough against a good defensive team to win. Our defense blows, despite having better players than in the past. No, we don’t have a huge DT run stuffer. That’s no excuse with our defensive roster to be this bad. Marinelli is a great guy; Richard has the past affiliation with the legion of boom, but those guys aren’t doing crap, aren’t getting what they should from the personnel. It’s not one game. Time to go in another direction defensively, regardless of a new coach.

I hated the way the game ended, but you know what? Everyone is focused on a couple of play calls on the last drive last night that seemed ignorant, but I’m really disgusted with our defense. All these name players, getting a good pass rush, yet we can’t stop good running teams, and we still get Dominated way too frequently.

I think its been Zeke.....all year. Hands down.....2019 Fall Guy since preseason.

If we are in Year 3 of the Garrett regime, I could get behind this. We are in year 9. The players have changed, the assistants have changed, the results have not.

There are two constants here........... the HC and the GM. The GM isn't getting fired. So what's left?

The defense is on JG and Jerry as well though.

Teams are exploiting the same flaws that Tenn, Indy, LA and NO exploited the last year and a half. Outside zone runs, inside trap plays and screen passes. They use Dallas' aggression and use of line stunts against them to create big plays.

Rod Marinelli and Richard haven't had any answers and keep running the same scheme over and over. Yes, players need to execute better, but at some point, you have to change things around because it isn't working.

Here's the problem;
Did you see the Vikings put on a run game clinic in the 3rd quarter?
They scored in a drive in which they ran every play except for one pass. Collinsworth pointed out how they used different formations to achieve the same results.
This is over Garrett's head.
This is just one example why the Cowboys come up short.

Speaking as a head coach for 13 years. Yeah the HC should get blamed. He'll take the credit when we win and he should take the blame when we lose. He is the man in charge. If he's not in charge, he deserves even more than blame.

Still comes down to coaching unless you think the defense lacks talent which I don't see how you could say that.

The defense was absolutely fantastic a year ago as well and ever since the Rams last game they've not looked very good.

Any chance your first name is Jason and your last name is Garrett?

It's Garrett's coaching staff. He could have changed defensive coordinators years ago. There has only been 2 constants over the last 10 years. Garrett and Jones. The buck stops there. Jones deserves blame for hanging onto Garrett all of these years and Garrett deserves blame for any coaching deficiency (whether it be him or a coordinator).

Again, no one said Garrett shouldn’t go, but no coach controls both sides of the ball. They hire guys they trust and turn them loose. Our defense has been an even bigger problem than Garrett. The offense has done more than enough to have a stellar record. Once JG is gone, I want the defensive braintrust gone right behind him.

Uh, this team’s decades-long failure falls and has fallen at the feet of one person…

Jerry Jones

Pathetic clock management is on the coach. Everything that the end of that game came down to was due to poor clock management that dictated 2nd and 3rd down because our defense is like a wet paper towel!

It is either that or Dak choked!

I think the Defense does lack talent Catch, but maybe not how you might expect it. We have a lot of talented LBs. Some really fast run and chase, cover LBs but if you look at our roster, who's the guy who takes on the Lead FB or Guard in the hole? We do not have that guy and it's creating problems for us IMO.
