Easily this is the best Cowboy offense in years

I was over at NFL.com looking at our stats, and I'm really amazed at our offensive stats.

It's been forever since we've had a 1,000 yard rusher, a 1,000 yard receiver, and a 3,000 yard passer.

But it's almost a certain lock we'll have both a 1,000 yard rusher and a 1,000 yard receiver.

Julius has 853 yards rushing....TO has 831 yards receiving....Glenn has 623 yards receiving...it's not out of the realm of possibility for him to get 1,000 yards.

Romo would have to average nearly 300 yards a game to reach 3,000 yards passing.

I'm also amazed at how many double-digit TD guys we could potentially have.

Romo has 13 TDs (although, QBs really don't count)
Barber has 11 TDs
TO has 8 TDs
Glenn has 6 TDs

When was the last time that we had three players with double-digits in TDs? I don't think Emmitt, Michael, and Novacek did....or Harper...

It's so much fun to watch this team. We can really put points on the board. It's so refreshing to see. We haven't been this potent on offense since our run of Super Bowls. Our offense was anemic for so many years.

So far, our worst game offensively was our first....with only 17 points. And that's another amazing thing about our offense. We've only scored less than 20 points twice....17 at Jax, and 19 vs the Skins.

Remember the bad ol' days when we were averaging 17 points?

Nice post. I agree with your points and it is very rewarding to see those numbers!

I remember when getting to 17 points was an accomplishment.

That was actually our goal in the Campo years....or did it just feel like that?

Yep, it certainly felt like that didn't it?!

Looking back, I have absolutely zero idea how I remained the least bit positive about this team back in the dark years.

When all else fails, turn to blind homerism. Hey, I wanted to believe Jerruh when he said we were playoff bound

The thing is, I have no problem accepting that the Rangers just plain suck.

I think I was just young, foolish, and longing too much for some hope.

It's become commonplace to forget this, but Chan Gailey's offense through Thanksgiving '98 was pretty formidable too, and was statistically our most prolific of the last decade besides this year's.

The immortal Jason Garrett himself came within a grand total of 2 points of securing a 5-0 record in subbing for Troy that year when he went down w/ the broken collarbone. We scored 381 points overall that season.

I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned at all during Romo's touchdown outburst on Turkey Day, but Aikman threw for somewhere in the neigborhood of 400, albeit in a losing cause to Randy Moss and the Vikes, in that Thanksgiving game in '98. Patrick Jeffers had a particuarly outstanding outing that evening as well.

It's a shame his career ended so soon.

Juke, I couldn't agree more about Jeffers. I believe he had the microfracture surgery on his knee after the breakout season in '99 with the Panthers and just was never able to recover.

I was disappointed we let him go after just one season with us. If we'd kept him instead of trading I believe a 3rd to Seattle for McKnight, we would have been in better shape when Irvin went down the next season.

Not to mention that we wouldn't have had Holmgren believing that if he could dupe Jerry out of a 3rd rounder, he'd have no trouble taking him for 2 first rounders the next offseason!

T.O. was correct earlier in the preseaon when he predicted this offense could be something recken with.... Now that's of course based on having a QB that doesn't lock in on one specific WR...
