I think he needs 10-15 more pounds for the NFL, but see no reason why he can't do that...

yup, but the way teams are using OL now. i think theres being a trend coming with more mobile and lighter tackles. like jamaal brown, ferguson this yr. light from the patriots. while size is always good, alot of teams are starting to look for them more athletic and lighter tackles

Couple of questions, silverbear.

Where did you find info on who the Cowboys were looking at? Most sites I have seen have had very little coverage of the Shrine Bowl.

Also, were Syvelle Newton, Tyrone Moss and Matt Herian people you are hoping we look at, or players the Cowboys have shown interest in?

With Newton, I would hope we look at him for safety instead of WR. I honestly think he played better at safety this year than he did WR.

Tyrone Moss is so out of shape, not even mentioning the fact he will not use his size to run people over. His vision on cutback and ability to break tackles were put on display tonight.

Matt Herian, as much as I love the guy, he should NOT get drafted by us. Complete warrior to even be playing, but he is not even one-tenth the player he was. When he suffered a broken leg two years ago against Mizzou, a doctor told him he could come back quicker having surgery by him. Herian didn't get a second opinion and had surgery by him. The doctor messed up Herian's leg so badly it had to be re-broke and operated on again. Since, he has never had the same burst that made him such a vertical threat in the passing game. Really sad to say the least.

Me, I want athletic AND big... and every year, there are a few players just like that available... for example, Justin Blalock can run pretty well, and he's on the "wrong" side of 325 pounds...

The Scout.com message boards apparently have somebody out there covering it (don't know who), and the info I've found has been from reposts of those reports...

I've heard nothing about Herian, but the Boys did indeed show some interest in Newton (who I'd never heard of before this week) and Moss... as a result, both are now on my list, because I do like to recognize players I know the Boys have shown an interest in... Moss looks like a semi-interesting power-type back, while Newton is apparently angling to be the next "Slash", but still looks like an eventual undrafted rookie free agent type...

lmao...

This Newton guy is something else. He apparently thinks he has first round potential as a receiver, despite his meager 12 receptions as a senior.

He sounds like a punk according to this article...

Assault (Syvelle Newton - He punched the USC Student Body President! - charges not filed

The report said Williams claimed he "attempted to calm down several other people who were talking," and that Newton "punched him in the left side of his face." According to the same report, Williams told police that as he was struck, Newton said, "Yeah bi*ch, that's how we get down," and immediately left the scene.

What a bad a**.

Then again, he can play QB, RB, WR, and Safety. His versatility must give BP a chubby. If he played baseball he would be ours in the first round.

Interesting stuff none the less. Would definitely be worth taking a look at if he goes undrafted.

I'd rather take Chansi Stuckey if we wanted to go the versatile athlete route, at least Chansi has produced somewhat marginally at the college level, although I say he was above-average
