It's funny how the cycles run with coaches. Before Eberflus got hired by Chicago, many would have been happy if we had hired him as head coach. Now, after his stint with the Bears, many don't even want him as a defensive coordinator.
Schottenheimer missed his shot at becoming a head coach. From what I read, he had some opportunities in 2007-2010, but two times he decided to stay where he was and the other time, he was beaten out for the Jets job by Ryan, staying on as OC instead. Now, he's either been swept out with coaching staffs or the coach moved on from him, which makes him a less desirable candidate.
