Sup all,
I've been away for the Thanksgiving weekend. Hope you guys didn't have as much indigestion as I did.
I spent the weekend with my cousin's family in Washington DC. It was a great time, other than the obvious ...
I haven't been able to log on since ... and I finally realized what this board means to me. This is a source of comfort. A safe place where we could go, hoping to find some answers, after a loss.
Anyway, Thursday's game hurt but honestly, deep down, I was expecting a loss. So my hopes weren't high. But josh dag-babit! We were so close. I believed we could win. We outplayed the best team in the AFC. We shoulda, woulda, coulda beaten them.
But all things even out. The law of averages is too hard to beat ... and after all these close games, we're exactly 5-4 in those close games. That also means, we owe the law of averages one more lose.
The crazy thing about Thursday's loss was actually on a thread I posted a few weeks ago ... "How Do We Stop Denver's Running Game". The message was how do we close the cutback lanes for the Bronco RB's??? I'd say, we did a great job of closing those cutback lanes all game ... until the last play.
It was that exact play ... where the OL pushed up sideways, we over pursued, and Dayne (ala Tatum Bell) cut back into the hole generated by the overpursuit ... and took it to the house.
Anyway, 7-4 isn't terrible. We went on to win the Super Bowl in 93 after the Leon Lett incident left us 7-4 after Thanksgiving. We ran the tables for the rest of the year, and that was our last loss.
With 5 games left, none will be as difficult as the Broncos ... though road games against the Giants, Panthers, and Commanders won't be easy. But if nothing else, we need to take care of business at home ... KC and St Louis.
10-6 won't win us the NFC East, but it may get us into the playoffs as a Wildcard contender. 11-5 may win us the East if we can beat the Giants again.
It's not all gloom and doom. This has been an amazing roller coaster season .. perhaps the most exciting of my entire life. The Super Bowl seasons were great, but there's something special about not being able to digest my food until the last moment ... for an entire season.
Let's enjoy the ride guys. It's all about football. I'm enjoying this season tremendously. I'm not ready to quit, and I'm hoping for 5 more nail biters. Heck, I'll take 9 more nail biters ...
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Let's use this time off to reload and get ready for the stretch run. NY Giants are up next. The season hangs in the balance ... I wouldn't want it any other way.
