Sup all,

I've been away for the Thanksgiving weekend. Hope you guys didn't have as much indigestion as I did.

I spent the weekend with my cousin's family in Washington DC. It was a great time, other than the obvious ...

I haven't been able to log on since ... and I finally realized what this board means to me. This is a source of comfort. A safe place where we could go, hoping to find some answers, after a loss.

Anyway, Thursday's game hurt but honestly, deep down, I was expecting a loss. So my hopes weren't high. But josh dag-babit! We were so close. I believed we could win. We outplayed the best team in the AFC. We shoulda, woulda, coulda beaten them.

But all things even out. The law of averages is too hard to beat ... and after all these close games, we're exactly 5-4 in those close games. That also means, we owe the law of averages one more lose.

The crazy thing about Thursday's loss was actually on a thread I posted a few weeks ago ... "How Do We Stop Denver's Running Game". The message was how do we close the cutback lanes for the Bronco RB's??? I'd say, we did a great job of closing those cutback lanes all game ... until the last play.

It was that exact play ... where the OL pushed up sideways, we over pursued, and Dayne (ala Tatum Bell) cut back into the hole generated by the overpursuit ... and took it to the house.

Anyway, 7-4 isn't terrible. We went on to win the Super Bowl in 93 after the Leon Lett incident left us 7-4 after Thanksgiving. We ran the tables for the rest of the year, and that was our last loss.

With 5 games left, none will be as difficult as the Broncos ... though road games against the Giants, Panthers, and Commanders won't be easy. But if nothing else, we need to take care of business at home ... KC and St Louis.

10-6 won't win us the NFC East, but it may get us into the playoffs as a Wildcard contender. 11-5 may win us the East if we can beat the Giants again.

It's not all gloom and doom. This has been an amazing roller coaster season .. perhaps the most exciting of my entire life. The Super Bowl seasons were great, but there's something special about not being able to digest my food until the last moment ... for an entire season. :)

Let's enjoy the ride guys. It's all about football. I'm enjoying this season tremendously. I'm not ready to quit, and I'm hoping for 5 more nail biters. Heck, I'll take 9 more nail biters ...

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Let's use this time off to reload and get ready for the stretch run. NY Giants are up next. The season hangs in the balance ... I wouldn't want it any other way. :)

Great post, Eddie.

You missed a great few days of blame-gaming, finger-pointing, and playuh-hating in the wake of the Denver loss.

But thankfully, we know the players are NOT doing what WE'VE been doing, so a chance for the playoffs actually does exist.

LTN, honestly, I have to say, I enjoyed Thursday's game ALOT more than the blowouts against the Cardinals and the Lions. Those game were nice, but the warm and cozy feeling isn't as fun as the rollercoaster, heartattack feeling of those last second wins (and losses).

Even though we lose to the Bronco's ... they went home knowing who they're daddy's were. Same with the Seahawks. I can guarantee you ... neither team wants to see us again this ENTIRE season.

The Seahawks will probably win HFA .. that's fine. We showed we could take it to them in their house. Chicago will probably get the second bye seat ... but without an O, they won't last long.

The NFC East will come down to us or the Giants ... but let's not forget the Commanders yet, they may end up only one game back out of the division race after this week. It could easily be a three dog race again.

Giants will be hard to beat at home ... but we need to play 60 minutes of football. No more 58 minutes and leaving the backdoor open for them. If Julius isn't totally ready, then hand it over to Barber.

If Terry Glenn's getting shut down, let's throw to Price.

We have weapons ... we really need to throw everything we have at the rest of the season. :)

But in the end, I can't tell you how much I'm enjoy this season. I'll take the roller coaster over the 5-11 seasons anyday. :)

Nice post. I totally agree. I thought we played better losing to Denver (a great team) than we did winning against the Lions (a horrible team).

It tells me this team is young and very good. There's some growing pains to be sure. I still think this team is a lot better than our record.

The rest of 2005 is not about our final record, for me anyway. It's about watching this team turn that final corner.

I like the way this team has held it's own against some of the better teams in the league and it still has a few more to go. They're not getting blown out the way they used when Jerry's evil twin, Jethro, was running things via Dave Campo. If you think things are good now, wait until next year.

Yep. This team showed me a lot more this past week against arguably the second best team in football than it has over the past month. Denver made a play down the stretch and we did not. And as we all know, that game was there for Dallas to take, particularly in the late going.

7-4 is a whole lot better than most of us thought they'd be at this point... all of the tough losses just make it harder to swallow. I'd say I'm rather happy with where the 'Boys are sitting right now.

On one hand, it is comforting to think that we played one of the better teams in the NFL to almost a stand-up draw.

On the other, it does show how this team plays to the level of the competition.

I cannot say for sure that Denver is one of the best, which is why I cannot view a loss as a "win" as some appear to be doing. They certainly made enough mistakes Thursday to lose to a team with more firepower. I have no doubt that once they play Indianapolis, they get blown out again as they have done for the past several seasons against them.

I've resigned to believe this team, though continually improving, has some obvious holes that will not be able to be addressed this year.

I like the direction the team is taking but we have a major OL shortfall that will prevent us from taking the next step.

Most teams are going to play to the level of their competition in the NFL. We are not going to run away from most teams we play. Just the nature of this team, of this league, for the most part.

Denver is one of the best teams in football. They're playing about as well as anyone right now. They didn't play their best game Thursday, but as Mike Shanahan said, Dallas prolly had a little something to do with that. The short week did as well, I'm sure.

I would not consider this game as a "win." It certainly was not that. It is what it is: a disappointing loss. There are some problems which need tending to, but there are also some positive things to build on.
