Edge Rusher Stack

I’m not the big time draft guru that some of you in depth die hards are, but probably a little bit more informed than the casual fan. This is more of a question for the die hards in here who do a deep dive, watch lots of film, and do their own evaluation on players.

I see that R. Mason Thomas isn’t being talked about that much as one of the top tier edge rushers in this class. Reese, Bailey, Bain and Messidore seem to be rated a clear tier above him. There are other edge rushers that he seems to be on a similar tier with (mostly end of the first round/middle of the second round guys.

I know I’m a bit of an Oklahoma Sooners fan, but the Sooners DID have one of the best defenses in the country last year. (You might argue THE BEST during certain parts of the season).

Thomas was probably the best player on the OU defense. Can anyone give me an unbiased opinion on why he’s not listed in the mix with the highest ranked pass rushers in the class?

Where do you guys have R.Mason Thomas slotted on your boards? I think he would be a legit steal at the end of the first or middle second round.

Also the OU defense isn’t getting much love in general in draft hype. Anyone see any other potential steals for the Cowboys off of that Sooners defense?

I haven’t actually ranked the edges yet but I do like RM Thomas more than a lot of the draft guru’s do… especially considering the new defense we’ll be playing this year.

I think he will be a riser as the draft process goes on and wouldn’t be shocked to see him sneak into the bottom of round 1.

He just has a knack for getting to the QB in big moments… at least in college he did.

I probably like him more than most at this early point of the pre draft process.

Big fan...2nd round guy IMO so dont think he will be in play for us.

Starting to see him push the bottom of the first in some mocks.
Won't know until after the combine and really 2-3 weeks out from the draft where teams are slotting players.
Somewhere in the 20s would be my guess!

Main knocks I see are size (under 250) and below-average arm length. He lets tackles make first contact too often.

He's very close to Howell, who I also like. He'd fit the 34 rush type just like Bonitto does, and RMT was undoubtedly a better college player than Bonitto.
