Edgerrin James is going into the pro hall of fame before Pearson

It’s a very weird argument they have.

Sometimes they look for longevity ... other times they look for guys like Terrell Davis.

Drew deserves to be in. Edge deserves it. Just not sure this soon

Its a different era and he played some good football in some important games and when it mattered. Not only that but its hard to argue against the only player on the All Decade team not in the Hall. So whether his stats hold up or not....he was voted the best at his position in that decade. That means something.

He was lucky to play on a great team with a great QB that had lots of success. He had opportunities to shine and he did shine in some big games.

However, if all you can do is score 4 TD's a year, you dont belong in the HOF. I don't care what era it was. That "it was a different era" thing only goes so far.

Pearson made had some great games and some great moments in big games. Call him clutch. But he wasnt HOF worthy. He simply didnt have the career to support that.

YOu have to draw the line somewhere. HOF should be reserved for the very best of the best. Maybe he shouldnt have been on the all decade team.

So I’m too young to to know but help me here. How did he get All Decade?
 
I am as big of a homer as the next guy. And I love Drew Pearson. But have you looked at Drew's numbers? He averaged about 3 catches a game in his career. He only broke 1,000 yards twice. Carmichael does not have great stats..... but his are a lot better than Drew's. Cole Beasley this season had better numbers than Drew's average season and more receptions in a season than Drew ever had. The game has changed..... but not that much.

He is also a beneficiary of the change in the game.

The receivers in the run generation of the NFL deserve recognition for their achievements.

That is the point.

The real thing about James is this. Did you ever think he was a great game-changer? Or was it more that he was the guy that ran the ball alongside Peyton?

Did any defensive coordinator stay awake at night worrying how they could control him?

That is a great question. How did he get all decade averaging 650 yards and 4 TD's? Maybe THAT was the mistake. If he is the ONLY guy on there that didnt make the HOF and then it would stand to reason that him making the team was a mistake.

Maybe he had a great season, or two great games in the playoffs at the end of a decade right before they did the voting. Maybe they just made a mistake.
