Didn't see that comin'. What im the blue blazes is going on?!! I thought he was 5th or 6th .

I saw him as top 50 but a RB has to be special to be Rd.1. What stands out is that he's a really good receiving threat and tough runner which would complement the KC style.

I had him around 29. He sounds like an Andy Reid type of RB.
Overview
Compact, sudden back who runs low to the ground with power and balance to break tackles and the agility to bob, weave and shake them in tight quarters. Edwards-Helaire runs with instinctive eyes and quick-cut foot speed. He doesn't really have tells or tendencies and can alter the rush track when needed, which makes him so unpredictable for defenses. While he can create for himself, he's better off working inside-out as NFL linebackers might be able to outflank him on pure outside runs. He has pop behind his pads but lacks short-yardage size. He has the talent to become a good, three-down back in time, but needs to improve in pass protection.
Strengths
  • Ball security is outstanding
  • Runs low to the ground with superb bend and balance
  • 36 percent of his carries were for first downs or touchdowns in 2019
  • Can cut-and-go without stopping anywhere on field
  • Quick gather and cut agility laterally or on downhill flow
  • Has spin move, elongated jump cut, and sudden double cut in his bag
  • Makes tacklers miss in a phone booth
  • Instinctive eyes and feet make him unpredictable
  • Alters run tempo at times to con flowing linebackers
  • Squares pads and falls forward to finish
  • Has instant access to burst and sharp one-cut angles
  • Runs crisp routes out of backfield
  • YAC are automatic
  • Kick returner for three years

I just don't get why KC would go with an RB at all, in that spot.

Edwards-Helaire is as good a choice as any of the others if you're going to go that route thoug.h

I just don't see first rb off the board talent there. Nothing against the kid. Wish him the best though
KC has been one of the better teams in the draft in recent years according to a pre-draft special I watched.

Well , who am I to argue. I do have my opinion though and I would take Taylor , Dobbins and Swift all day before Helaire. Like I said , I wish Helaire success, just not if we play them lol

Yeah
I had him 4th. But to be fair, those 4 were bunched together
Teams looking at RB in the 2nd round (hello Tampa Bay or Miami) are probably pretty happy

Yes. Miami gets to have their cake and eat it too. Swift?

Yes
I'm sure it just depends on their preference. But nice to have your pick of Swift, Dobbin, or Taylor. If they group them together, they might even trade down a few slots, pocket an extra 4th, and still get on of them.

Gonna be a monster in KC. Mahomes security blanket underneath that will break tackles galore.

I think he's the #2 back this year behind Taylor. And for what Kansas City does, he fits much better than Taylor.

CEH wasn't going to remain on the board for long if they passed on him anyway. Just a hunch, but I bet you Tampa Bay would think about moving up and using him as a sidecar for Brady. They are all-in on building around Tom, and CEH would be ready to run Pats wheel routes for him on day 1.

As for the rest of the running backs falling, I can see that. You have 4 or 5 guys with very close grades, so teams are just going to see who falls to their pick.

That’s because you don’t know what to look for. I’d rather have him behind this line than Zeke.
