Okay, I don't usually say much. Been lurking around here for years. But there is something that really troubles me and I just want to get it off my chest. Why is it, that when the Cowboys are being outplayed, so many fans automatically assume it's because the Cowboys "aren't trying," are "gutless cowards," have "quit", are "disinterested", etc. instead of assuming that our players are just getting outplayed by a better team? Are we so sure that our players are so superior to the other NFL players and teams that the only way we get beat is if we simply aren't trying? For example, last night Newman was getting blown up every play. All I saw from most in the game thread was anger toward Newman for not playing better, not trying harder, etc. What I saw was a guy who was playing his hardest but simply couldn't keep up with the younger, faster guys anymore. It became so obvious on the long Cruz touchdown that Newman, who was once the fastest guy on the field, has lost more than a step, he's actually pretty slow now. Just like Brady James and Keith Brooking. They've lost a step, are too slow to get it done anymore. That doesn't mean they aren't trying their hardest. I have no problem admitting that our team is not the most talented, at least not anymore. We need huge infusions of talent, youth, and speed. Are we a very good team? No, apparently we are a .500 team just as our record shows. But I do NOT believe that the players on my team don't care, that they quit, that they are gutless cowards. I think they have pride and are laying it all out there, they're just not good enough! I believe that there is absolutely no way we fans watching can possibly know what the players are thinking or feeling! Those of you who ever played any sport on any level, was there never a time that you got your butt kicked? When that happened, were you being a gutless coward who wasn't trying? Were you complacent and just didn't care? I dare say you were NOT!!! I think you gave it everything you had, and so did your team-mates, and it just wasn't enough! Well why can't we give our Cowboys (you know, our favorite team that we all love so much?) the same benefit of the doubt? Why must we assume that our beloved team is filled with a bunch of whiny, unmotivated, selfish, gutless cowards from the GM, to the coaching staff, to the players to the water boy? Couldn't it just possibly be that we have a team with too many players who aren't as good as the other team's players, so that no matter how hard they try, the other team is just better? That's how it looked to me last night. And yes, I know that it's the gm's job to get better players. I agree he desperately needs to do that! But that doesn't mean Jerry doesn't care whether he does or not, either. I think he's doing the best he can to find those guys, it just hasn't worked out where all the pieces have come together at the same time since the good old days in the 90's. That doesn't mean it never will. So in summation, I think our team needs to improve tremendously in a big hurry. But except for the players who come out and say they took plays off (Spencer), I will never assume that the team I root for is filled with complacency and cowardice. Feel free to flame away. I've said my piece. ;)

Paragraphs are your friends. No way I'm going to read that post.

We arent a good team, we have some talented players like Ware, Romo, Witten, Lee, Ratliff, Dez and a few others but we also have some major liabilities on the offensive line, secondary and at LB. Liabilities that other teams have been exploiting over and over the entire 2nd half of the season.

I think fans grow found of the players they watch week in and week out so they want to blame some one else for the failures. It has to be Rob Ryan's fault or it has to be JG's play calling. Easier than admitting a guy like Newman who you love is no longer a good player.

Agree with the paragraph post as well, that was a bit tough to read formatted like that.

...its a talent thing and you are absolutely correct. We don't have the same talent as other teams. Usually, this is laid at the feet of the GM. Since we have Jerry, there is no one to fire or get rid of to change this. This has been happening since the mid-late 90s and will continue ad infinitum until Jerry is pushing up daisies ala Mr. Al Davis.
