Originally posted this on an Eagles board, figured I'd share it with you guys too...
1) By 7:45pm EST, the Football Night in America crew will have pissed me off at least 7 or 8 times. I like Bob Costas, but Tiki Barber? Jerome Bettis? Keith Olbermann??? *shudders*
2) T.O. and McNabb will shake hands and/or hug before the game. ESPN and NFL Network will replay the clip ad nauseum for days, with every analyst on the planet needing to give their $0.02. Might surpass the attention Kobe and Shaq received for their pregame hand-shake a few years back.
3) Marion Barber will throw down at least one sick stiff arm. He uses it a few times each game, and it is more like an open-handed punch to the head than a stiff arm. Very effective.
4) If I was a betting man (which I am), my money is on the wing-flapping from T.O. as a celebration if he scores a TD or makes a huge catch. He "flapped his wings" on Monday during practice and was mimicked by some of our other guys, so he's having flashbacks to his trademark celebration from his Philly days it seems.
5) McNabb will attempt to scramble early in the 1st quarter. If successful, this will send a message to the Cowboys D that his legs are back and that we'd better account for that part of his game... which could help open things up down-field for him as the game progresses. If unsuccessful, Wade will send the heat outside without much regard for his ability scramble up the middle and avoid the rush, while the ILBs and secondary can play their coverages without keeping an eye on #5.
6) By the 2nd half, if not sooner, you guys will be thrilled any time you see Julius Jones in our backfield rather than Marion Barber. Barber is our best RB and it's not even close... yet somehow he isn't the starter and continues to split carries with Jones. Jones has tailed off dramatically since tearing it up as a rookie in '04. We might not have much success with either RB against your run D, but the majority of success we do have will be due to Marion "The Barbarian" treating each carry as if it were his last, as he does with each and every carry in each and every game. Barber had more than twice as many rush attempts as Jones did against Minnesota (19 to 9), so hopefully for us that is a sign of things to come.
7) Madden will continue to gush over Romo... count on at least one Brett Favre comparison reference, as well as the newfound, "Yes, he signed a rich new contract, but he's not the type of guy to let the money change him" stuff. Gotta love those regurgitated cliches.
8) Lined up across from Trent Cole, Flozell Adams will have a false start or two. I think we'll hold Cole without a sack, partially due to Romo's quick release and elusiveness in the pocket. But the Master of the False Start himself will not waste the opportunity to jump while facing the NFL's sack leader. He might even draw a holding call on Flozell, who sometimes has trouble with speed-rushers.
Feel free to add your own predictions.
