EIU's Campbell emerging as NFL draft possibility

Chris Campbell, an offensive tackle usually overshadowed during his Eastern Illinois football career, now appears to be the Panthers’ best pro prospect come NFL draft time in two weeks.
The 6-foot-5, 328-pounder just got back from a workout with the Seattle Seahawks and has similar meetings planned with the Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots.
“He’s getting more action than Pierre did last year,” EIU defensive coordinator Roc Bellantoni said of former defensive end Pierre Walters, who as a free agent landed a spot with the Kansas City Chiefs last year.
Word is that Campbell could be taken in the draft.
“I would say it’s been quite a journey, quite an interesting journey,” Campbell said. “I’m sort of surprised but I guess deep down I’m not.”
See the story in Friday’s JG/T-C.
