So I'm thinking of getting an electric smoker for my step dad. I've had experiences in the past with them and have enjoyed it. Anyone have experience with them? There's a $70 one at home depot that's gotten good reviews. I just love the ease of it and not having to worry about keeping coals hot.

I had 1 of those Brinkman electrics kmp. I only used at the lake by the boat slip.

For the $$, the work ok, but they do require you to add the smoking wood almost every 45 minutes to an hour no mater how big the pieces are, how long they've been soaked or even if they're wrapped in a foil pouch.

Also, they're really affected by the outside temp. If it's really cold or really windy, the temp is a little harder to maintain.

But they do work, and you can turn out a pretty good piece of meat with 'em.
