NFL
Cowboys pour on the points
The Cowboys continued their scoring surge with a 44-17 victory over the Commanders. Dallas averaged 41.3 points in its four games this month, tying the NFL record for teams that played at least four games in the month of December. San Diego set that mark in December 1982. And for any skeptics out there, there have been more than 800 "team-seasons" in which a team played at least four regular-season games in the month of December.
The Cowboys scored at least 40 points in three of their four games this month. They reached the 40-point mark in only two other games over their last six seasons (since 2009).
(since Detroit is coming to town......)
Stafford's road struggles continue
With Detroit's loss at Lambeau Field, Matthew Stafford's record on the road against winning teams fell to 0-16. That's not the worst such record among active players; Ryan Fitzpatrick is 0-20 starting on the road versus teams that finished the season with a winning record. But besides Stafford and Fitzpatrick, only two other QBs in NFL history lost their first 16 games of that type: Steve DeBerg, who lost his first 20; and Bill Kenney, who finished his career with an 0-19 mark.
