Elite offense?

Well the Cowboys aren't the only offense in the league who played against "bad teams". So why aren't those other offenses ranked where our offense is ranked according to what you're saying?

I read someone here calling the Commanders "bottom feeders" after we beat them. If thats the case, why weren't the reigning Superbowl champions able to beat the same "bottom feeder" Commanders that we easily beat? Can't put a spin job answer on this one huh....

This is the NFL. It is hard to win games in this league. Any team can beat any team, at any given time.

With that said, that whole "we can't beat good teams" bs has been put to bed years ago. All of our wins aren't against bad teams.... its an entertaining lil false narrative to read once in a while though.
This is about to be the third straight season sitting out the playoffs. How many good teams have they beaten?

No sir. This past loss is more on Schottenheimer than it is Parker, who has a lot of key guys out of the lineup. Schottenheimer made is own offense feast or famine Thursday night and I have little confidence going forward that he sees the writing on the wall. He is on the way to being yet another HC/OC who misuses the high level of talent that has been assembled in Dallas. He called far too many vertical routes Thursday night...and ran the ball far less than he should have, principally behind Guyton and Smith. Too many plays in shot-gun no back as well. He put his own quarterback in BAD situations too many times.

After watching the all-22, I worry more about Schottenheimer than Parker. The "just run down the field and beat your man" offense has been tried before...too many times in Dallas...with lackluster results.

Kyle Shanahan would make this offense lethal. And until you get a guy like him, the Cowboys have no frigging chance of winning a superbowl. The philosophy on offense continues to be backward.
I wanted Shoddy fired since before MM was get go. He's not good. And thank you for saying it so eloquently.

I'm not sure Jerry could pull better or would even be willing to hire better. That's a different story.. but Shoddy ain't it.

Oh we at different places. After losing to the Buccs I’m at a place where I’m not interested in “keeping up”. There’s no offense built that can negate giving up 30 plus a game. This season is done. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

I just looked up the Chargers defense and it was ranked 18th on average in yards allowed. You think this defense is even that good? That’s a wild take.

I don’t think you understand how bad this defense is and the fact they just got torched by a team led by a undrafted rookie and a 0-4 team doesn’t show you what they are than I don’t know what will.
The defense is paid to be a bottom 5 defense. You get what you pay for..

The biggest key word you typed is "team". During those last three seasons, the offense was ranked top 5 and the defense has been ranked bottom 3 at best.

As far as us missing the playoffs with what I've just posted, what does a solid football IQ and common sense tell you the problem thats keeping us from going to the playoffs?

It really shouldn't take too long to answer this question......

I was kind of under that impression.
But right off the bat, the lack of a running game kinda spoils the description for me.

I guess my personal interpretation of an elite standard would include weekly dominance of both run and pass and not spotty pass game dominance as has been this year's model so far.

I honestly don’t know what’s up with the run game. Big disappointment and it’s not like Javonte has been bumming it. He seems fine.

forget what the defense did, the offense for dallas was pathetic, they are not elite unless they are playing wash.

The defending Superbowl champion Seattle Seahawks played the same "Wash", that we easily beat and we had a 30th ranked defense. Why weren't the current Superbowl champions able to beat "Wash"?

It is just EMBARSSING to share a forum with "fans" who talk football and really don't understand what they are watching. The Dak contract has them out of their minds. We witnessed the worst defense in franchise history last year....is on it's way to being worst than that...and we see thread after thread after thread about what this offense is NOT. Make it make sense?

Is the offense perfect? No!!!!!!!!! But this defense is so historically bad, it needs the offense to be perfect for this team to have a chance. And because it does not appear as if the defense is going to get much better...the expectations for the offense have been raised for some fans. Hopefully we can get a run game going, because we are going to need it.

You have to understand. We really have some extremely dumb people who post here. No need to sugar coat it. Im going to call it like I see it.

Anytime the Cowboys offense is top 2, top 3, and people here are saying the problem with our team is the offense, despite the defense being bottom 3??? They're dumb as a bag of rocks, period. Thank God for the many highly intelligent posters that we DO have here, but there's an alarming number of people here with extremely low IQs.

Im surprised that they even know how to cut their phones or computers off and on. I would bet top dollars that we have arguably some of the dumbest fans in the NFL.

Im not even joking.

When was the last time you saw an o lineman running 5 or so yards upfield looking for some to pancake?

Remember when a rb would put his hand on the back of of an o line and follow him through the rough?

Total drives is a completely nonsensical stat and means nothing. Every team plays the same amount of snaps per game, minus 1, if the team that started with the ball also ends with it. They can it getting blowing out, while having the ball last.

Dallas is also bottom of the league in many rushing categories.

This Cowboys team is very predictable. We lose to all good teams without exception. We beat and lose to the bad teams. This team for the last 10 years has shocked no one. We don't even get that one game. Like when we went to New Orleans and beat the 13-0 Saints in their own house. Or when we went into Seattle in 2014 and beat the Champs. This Cowboys team has been gutless for the last decade. These good teams we'll be playing later on, all losses. It's not any given Sunday when it comes to the Cowboys unless you're Tampa Bay. We'll lose those games guaranteed. Badly too.

Ehh I can’t agree with that. You invested 2 first rounders and a few second rounders, traded big picks for Quinnin….im not saying be top 5 but certainly not historically bad.
You've cited a year's worth of investment, but we're talking about decades worth of neglect.

Truthfully, I'm not sure if investing more resources will change much. Over the years, I've come to the conclusion that Jerry Jones lacks the mental capacity, mentality, and base understanding of building a defense. He tries to build a defense like he builds an offense. Get some hugely talented superstars to carry you.

That kinda works for offense. Emmitt Smith, Peyton Manning, Jerry Rice can carry an offense. But the same isn't true with defense Deion Sanders doesn't mean much if you have Bland on the opposite side. They'll just throw at Bland. I believe 11 average defenders are better than 2 superstars, 7 average players, and 2 poor players. Offenses will just attack the weak spots.

And I don't think Jerry fundamentally understands this. He wants a "war daddy" and a Deion Sanders and then whatever else that's cheapest because 2/3 of the team's resources are going to the offense because that means better headlines, that's what's sexy. And then compound that with the fact that I think Jerry either doesn't understand or simply isn't interested in caring that personnel on defense has to match the team's defense scheme. Defense has a steeper hill to climb in the NFL because of the modern rules. As such, matching the correct personnel with the correct scheme is so much more important than on offense.

I do think he's starting to learn that it doesn't matter how great the offense is if can't stop anything. But it's going to take years to change that.

Eh..since the embarrassing GB loss this team hasn't even been "good" enough to be mid

Cowboys offense definitely was not the problem in those last two playoff games against the 49ers. 23-17 in 2022. 19-12 in 2023. Nope that was 100% the fault of the defense. And the much vaunted Cowboys beat multiple below .500 juggernauts in 2025.
